Turkish Missile Programs

Any chance this could be converted to air launch variant? I know the Turks have the SOJ but maybe they can do the same for this one as well and export it. The Harpoon missiles at most only have 200km range.
The ÇAKIR (mid-range AShM/multipurpose variant) is an air-launched and swarm-capable model and your question is on the roadmap. I don't think the air launch variant of ATMACA has technical difficulty much than that either.

However, there is a situation like this: These are missile types with very high technology and high unit cost. It is designed for ultra-sea-skiming flying in the midcourse phase; in the dense EW environment and mainly for attack on surface platforms, coastal defense installations and radar bases and other strategic facilities.

Biggest advantage is that they are networked-centric combat systems. In other words, in the near future, we will start to see exercises where these missiles are launched from system A, their target is marked with system B, and missile guided by system C. For more detailed research on this subject, I can give you three keywords: KEMENT, ADVENT and KARTAL.

Thanks to Turkiye's investments in ammunition and missile groups, especially in air-to-ground ammunition groups and guidance kits: an aircraft which it is far from target 60-120 km away has a large number of weapon system options, optimized for very different missions, without the need for cruise missiles for engagement to ground and surface targets.

From mini and micro classes, to guidance kits, from swarm-moving smart munitions to kamikaze-type drones, and even you will start to see air-launched examples of laser-guided tactical ballistic rockets.

At the moment, the most important blind spot in the Turkish defense industry air-to-ground ammunition groups is strategic antiradiation missiles. As far as we know, the AKBABA project has not yet started test firing. TAF currently has US-origin HARM missile variants.

We are working on it. Because our navy urge an Atmaca variant to be launched from Akıncı.

It is unthinkable for an aircraft carrying SOM will not to achieve ATMACA capability.

An another example for the under fuselage pylon capacity

Next Gökhan.

(Akıncı + Gökhan etc etc + Kızılelma) = Bye bye F-16's!

Very soon we will have dedicated unmanned platforms for each mission the F-16s do. Then we can comfortably wait for the MMU.

unmanned platforms can not take air to air combat fighters, may be can engage helicopters and other logistic and unmanned air platforms, but the stealth ones can be good against non stealth fighters

Not at the moment, but when the relevant technological fields are mature enough, there may be a reduction in the size of the force that manned jets must now be retained for other than some specific strategic and tactical military purposes.

In 20 years, balance can starts to progress rapidly in favor of unmanned systems, especially in short-range fighter/interceptor aircrafts.

When you remove the human endurance limit factor from the machine, a big leap can be experienced. Of course, the most important and possibly years-long problem here will be to combine deep learning and autonomous decision capabilities with it.

However, it is a promising approach for the future of our country that we are on the verge of this potential break in military aviation, and that we try to be a part of the process this time.

First batch delivered, should use it in Syria. Latest IIR technology and a 8 km altitude specs, so low flying Russian fighters will be shot down.

Give/sell some to Ukraine - they can use it in actual operational combat conditions and provide actual real feedback.

Turkey is learning alot from their drones taking on Russian equipment which will feed into the next generation of drones, and the same can apply to this system and other products.

IIR-seeker, 4th generation MANPADS. The navy version will be groundbreaking.

  • Longest Range in its Class
  • Lock-on before Launch via IIR
  • Piercing Warhead and Direct Attack
  • Minimum Flight Time
  • All-type Platform integration
  • Asymmetric Battle Capability
  • Integrated with Air Defence Early Warning and C4I Systems
  • IFF capable
PS:
YHSS, a fully autonomous close air/point air defense system for surface platforms. It will use naval-based variants of several missiles of different types, including SUNGUR.
