Turkish Missile Programs

Pakistan tested 3000 km range ballistic missile this year. Is it possible that it was a Turkish BM ?

We have not test range for that range.

Most tests are done into the sea..but may be few technologies used in our tests were mutually developed by Turkey and Pakistan? Idk.

The problem is that we don't know what Turkish authorities mean by "long range"...until now, the missiles Turkey has shown are all rockets with their ranges in hundreds of km, rather than being 1000km-2000km ballistic missile systems.

Is Turkey developing a 1000km range ballistic missile?

Anything less than 1000km is not worth calling a ballistic "missile"---it's a mere rocket with few hundred km range.

Let's see. Hopefully our Pakistani scientists and engineers share their knowledge and expertise in the field with Turkey, if Turkey is really trying to develop a 1000km+ ballistic missile system

1000km+ ballistic missile with a conventional warhead - 450kg warhead with a 50-100m CEP isn't useful from a tactical viewpoint. I would rather they develop a combination of LACM and SRBM missiles. Turkey is however developing an orbital launch system, which would be a strong indicator of Turkey's ability to develop 1000km+ ballistic missiles if so required.

But who told you Turkey is building ballistic missiles for her tactical needs?

Turkey can go the Iran away as well, as in, building capable ballistic missiles in thousands as a strategic deterrence of sorts.

With capability to launch hundreds of 500kg warheads at a single population center 1000km away, Turkey will definitely give many nightmares to anybody thinking of engaging it in an open conflict.

Imagine 300 to 500 missile warheads falling on a major city with 1 million+ population--it can potentially decimate the city. Whereas dropping 500 bombs at 1000km away in middle of enemy fortified territory might be a much more difficult task for Turkish Air Force.

So ballistic missiles do represent their benefits for Turkey's deterrence--even in conventional mode.

Persian stronk, saddam killed khameni killed each other. In the end they killed civillians both side, army is still standing. If you have nuke or chemical then that ballistic missile is perfect. Beside that is nothing but waste of money. If you want to kill civilians the perfect weapon of choice. Why is america nothing using them or russia?

Only bandit countries would dare to attack civil population with BMs but you can destroy the civil and military infrastructure of a country and paralyze it.

If Turkey were to be building ballistic missiles for reasons other than tactical use, we would have seen larger ballistic missiles years ago. Instead we see increased funding for Cruise Missiles, Guided Rockets, "long range rockets" according to you to me however it is a SRBM and development of something that is actually far more useful technologically and scientifically a Space Launch Vehicle. Turkey into Space, da.

Iran does not have a capable Air force, so their only deterrence lies in ballistic missiles. I would not like to see such a handicapped Turkiye.

I'd rather see hundreds of land launched cruise missiles with 500kg warheads that are able to destroy strategic assets with pinpoint accuracy, then to decimate half a town and the nearby countryside. If you want to decimate an entire town, there are easier ways of going about it then to launch hundreds of ballistic missiles at it and then hope for the best - destroying half a town does not win wars. Destroying infrastructure, machining shops, sanitation, gas lines, electrical grids etc, etc.. wins wars, having the ability to do that is enough of a deterrence. If country is in a pickle, then go nuclear or go ham.

Ballistic missiles without a Nuclear Warhead is not a good deterrence, it is a necessity, for Iran and not Turkey.

@cabatli_53 Bro, I'm posting this here before it gets lost in the IDEF'17 thread. Aselsan's SDB :-)

Who cares if it's an army or the civilians who die... In a war they are all enemies and you should try to kill as much as possible and destroy as much as you can of their cities and infrastructure. Turkey should learn a thing or two from Iran in that matter as Iran's ballistic missiles arsenal is really an impressive one.
