Turkish minorities caught up in the Ukraine whirlwind

Solution does exist. Time for strategic thinking. As EU & Russia remains pre-occupied and at loggerhead with each other, time is ripe for Turkey to expand it's territory. Non EU region of the Balkan is up for grabs !

Turkey could take part of Greek Thrace, Macedonia & then take Serbia and march all the way to Danube. Neither EU nor Russia would lift a finger as neither wants another enemy in their border. Prior to WW2 both the Soviets & The British had agreement with Germany to ensure Germany remains on their side. Neither side lifted a finger as Hitler started the land grab ! With good economy neither Russia nor EU could afford to antagonize Turkey. Minority Turkic communities can then be settled in the newly captured region in the Balkans along with others. Question is, is there anyone in Turkey willing to take a chance to play a bigger role in chessboard of Europe.
Nice and all, but Turkey cant afford to get sanctioned from EU and Russia side at the same time, because they both wouldnt like such moves. Let the Turkish govt first do something about Turkic minorities in Syria and Iraq, countries that dont have such international impact, if they even dare.

Both side won't, that is the point ! If Russia does, EU won't and vice versa. Besides sanctions would have minimum impact if the offensive in Balkan can be backed up by strong diplomacy. Sanction on Russia, Syria and many others are useless. Large land in the Balkan will compensate for any loss due to sanctions.

Nobody in Turkey wants war

@Brutas, nobody wants those balkan countries. Apart from not wanting them, they would be only strain to our economy. Look at Greece with its massive debt, they also have f-ed up work ethic, and don't have any natural resources. Turkey has more to gain with cooperation with allies in the balkans for human resource and to form union with rich natural resource Turkic countries.

Bosnians actually feel connected to Turkey, they are proud of their Ottoman past, they have a very positive view of us, Albanian not so much though.

Albanians are more divided. Muslims in general do have positive view, Christian ones not, but there are also a lot of Albanians with identity crises. I think Albanian state is positive towards us. Also Macedonia, Turkish Bulgaria, Bosnia like you said, and recently we have close ties with Romania and Serbia. For example Serbians are not that Turkophobic as Greeks. They let us invest in Muslim areas in Serbia.

That would be in everyone's interest:

1- Iran could increase its share in Natural Gas Market;
2- Turkey could make a lot of money by allowing tranist of contributing countries Natural Gas;
3- EU energy dependency on Russia's Natural Gas would be greatly reduced.
And many more benefits...

However, its all up to EU, Iran and Turkey both are up for it, now we'll have to see whether EU is willing to sacrifice its long-term energy security by making wrong decisions or not. They already made that wrong decision once and the result was increased dependency on Russia as EU's main Natural Gas provider.

Great post, and I have high hopes that EU will shift more towards Iranian/North African and USA gas, after what happened in Ukraine.
There are some problems, unfortunately..

1- Iranian regime appears as unreliable, Mullahs and all.. (biggest problem, imho)
2- Russian influence in some western countries (both economical and political)
3- It will cost a lot to develop the infrastructure.(than can solved)
4- Turkey isn't seen as a desirable country for transit in some circles (Erdogan an all..)

But 1 & 2 are the biggest problems. The Russians will do close to anything to stop such a development between the EU and Iran

@lol am I reading right or is Brutas trying to convince the Turkish members that it's time to start another series of Balkan wars? :D

:lol:

Return of the Ottomans.:mps:

Turkish people are extremely hostile against any kind of war.... 1/3 of our population died in the WW1... we know greatly about the sufferings of war.

There is only one way Turkey will go war against Balkan countries;
If all of the Balkan countries suddenly lose their sanity and began mass murdering Turkish minorities in their countries.... other than that.. no way. :D

Is that an under the table threat to Declein? Romania has a lot of Turkic minorities :D All kidding aside, all world wars started in the Balkans, but I don't think any war will happen in Balkans soon. Maybe if Bosnia gets attacked, I see Turkey jumping in.

Turkey wouldnt get involved by its own but with NATO together like last time.

Turkey can only help bosnia after we get LHD because Greece is in the way and so is bulgaria. The only way we could help bosnia now is if Italy let us use some of their bases if a war happened other than that we would be limited to special forces, and supplying weapons, aid etc.

Nope mate, why would they attack Turks in their country... Also it's not a threat but fact. We all know how the invasion of Cyprus started.

We won't involve.... even when Syria downed our jet. All our people didn't want a war with Syria.
War is not a joke...

Max we would give weapons and if it was really bad we would use airforce. But these are unrealistic and wil not happen in the next 15-20 years.
