I think the PULAT APS thing has a major design flaw.

A tank should be able to bust through a wall, climb a steep incline. The PULAT bump could very well be damaged or limit the tanks ability to climb steep inclines.

35mm effective range is 4-5km, vs. 2-3km of 30mm.
A 120mm cannon maximum direct fire range is 4-5km, 35mm and 30mm are lower than that.
Both are limited to 2-3km.
 

Alternative power group selected for Next Generation Storm Howitzer!​


The design work for the Storm howitzer of the UTKU power group, the domestic solution of BMC POWER, has been completed.

It is planned to continue mass production of New Generation Storm Howitzers with the local power group UTKU from 2025. New Generation Storm Howitzers include subsystems such as automatic fire extinguishing system, auxiliary power group and remote-controlled weapon system. BMC Defense can also carry out the marketing and sales activities of the New Generation Storm Howitzers, but the final approval is given by the Ministry of National Defense.

The first 10 of the New Generation Storm Howitzers are produced with a backup power group (supplied from Korea). The next 15 howitzers will be procured from another country and produced. The tests of the mentioned 15 power groups have been completed. The UTKU power pack will be integrated into the Next Generation Storm Howitzer from 25 units. Mass production of Storm howitzers will continue in Arifiye. Power groups used in Tanks or Howitzers can be changed in the process. At this point, foreign origin power groups can be replaced with domestic alternatives by retrofitting.

UTKU Power Group is Ready for the “Storm”​

The design work for the Storm howitzer of the UTKU power group has been completed. In the statement made by BMC Power General Manager Mustafa Kaval, it was stated that orders for production were passed to subcontractors. In this context, it was stated that Fırtına howitzers will receive domestic engines in 2025. In addition, UTKU will be run as a power group in the near future. Until now, the engine and transmission have been operated separately.

It has been announced that it is aimed to achieve more than 75% locality in the UTKU and BATU power groups. In addition, it has been announced that 10 UTKU and 6 BATU engine prototypes have been produced so far. In this context, BMC Power has a production capacity of 1,000 engines per year. The company has the ability to produce approximately 800 cylinders and 200 v motors per year.

First of all, please don't bust through any big walls and risk damage to the gun, optics etc. It's a problem with or without Pulat

For small walls, and for climbing hills it won't be a problem because it's located in the upper glacis plate, and there's really no better place to put it.

It could be an issue in very limited circumstances

120 maximum firing range is 4-5km because it's the limit of line of sight on a flat terrain.

Tanks can fling shells far longer than that with enough gun elevation

It could be an issue in very limited circumstances

I don't think we need to create solutions for once in a million year problems . This is it, this is the system, it beats getting hit by ATGMs. Whatever limitations of the system there might be, will get outweighed by not being blown to pieces.

You could have enemies on a mountain and see them from even 15 kilometres away. But you won't try to target enemies more than 5km away. It just isn't accurate.

After 4-5km it's not effective at all. You aren't accurate. 35mm and 30mm aren't effective beyond 3km.

35x228 has double the kinetic energy of 30x173, and muzzle velocities of around 1400m/s to 1600m/s for APDS

It can shoot at fast flyers at 4.5km per Rheinmetall, there is no question it can lob HE quite a bit further than that at ground targets

4.5km when flying at a straight line towards the system probably.

Also APDS shells have way more range than HE shells. And again, it won't be accurate at all.

There is no official statement yet confirming the final design of the concept. However, estimates suggest that it is based on one of these concept designs.
