Turkish Aid effort continues in Pakistan.

Turkey has sent two more cargo planes carrying aid to flood-hit Pakistan.

Planes took off from Turkish capital Ankara on Saturday.

Turkish planes, a military cargo plane and a Turkish Airlines cargo plane, will transport two tons of aid materials including, vaccines, medicine, medical stuff, as well as a 42-member Turkish medical team, two fully equipped mobile hospitals, an ambulance, and a 4x4 truck of Turkey's national medical rescue teams.

So far, Turkey has sent eight planes full of 244 tons of aid and $10 million financial aid to Pakistan.

In the meantime, Turkish military provided a C-130 cargo plane to assist Pakistani Armed Forces in distributing aid materials to flood victims across the country.

Efforts are underway in state institutions and NGOs in Turkey to help people of flood-stricken Pakistan.

Bank accounts were opened within the scope of the aid campaigns launched for victims of recent flood disaster in Pakistan.

Turkish Red Crescent will collect the contributions in kind and financial aid and sent it to the region to meet the needs of flood victims.

Red Crescent will also send 105 tonnes of aid material to the region in line with the needs.

Prefabricated houses to meet temporary sheltering needs of the people of the region will be sent by train.

Red Crescent earlier sent 140 tonnes of aid material, including foodstuffs and cleaning equipment, potable water, blankets, medicine and tents to the region.

We will also be setting up two field hospitals in Pakistan to help the sick.

Aid Train Leaves Turkey For Pakistan To Heal Flood Wounds


A train carrying humanitarian aid left Turkey for Pakistan on Tuesday to heal the wounds of the flood disaster.
The train is loaded with humanitarian aid collected by Sabah (daily newspaper)-ATV (TV channel) Group and Turkish Red Crescent.
"Pakistan has supported Turkey whenever Turkey faced a hard time whatever its (Pakistan's) conditions were," Turkey's State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said when seeing off the train from Ankara.
Cicek said international community had not dispatched enough aid to Pakistan.
Also, Pakistani Ambassador to Turkey Tariq Azizuddin said floods affected some 20 million people and killed around 2,000 others.
Azizuddin said 165,000 square meters of area was flooded, 1 million houses were demolished, and the flood left 4.6 million people homeless.
According to the ambassador, 3.5 million children were under contagious disease threat, and hundreds of kilometers of highways and energy lines were inundated by floods.
Azizuddin said Pakistan needed 12-15 billion USD for reconstruction.
The aid is comprised of 300 prefabricated houses, 2,000 food parcels, 930 sacks of flour, hygienic materials, dried food, diapers and potable water.

Turkey sends 3rd aid train to flood-hit Pakistan

ANKARA, September 7 (Xinhua) -- The third train of Turkish humanitarian aid organization set off for flood-hit Pakistan on Tuesday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

Turkish Red Crescent's train which departed from Behicbey train station in the capital of Ankara carries 750 tons of aid materials including 500 tons of foodstuff for people in Pakistan, according to the report.

Floods, caused by Monsoon rains, have killed thousands of people and left millions homeless in Pakistan in the last couple of weeks.

After the disaster, Turkey has sent cargo planes and two trains carrying tons of aid materials to the country.

Turkey most recently sent two mobile hospitals and 40 medical personnel to flood-hit Pakistan to be deployed in Sind and Belucistan states.

Turkish government, which donated 10 million U.S. dollars to Pakistan, also recently launched an aid campaign.

The administration of a leading Turkish bank has decided to contribute to the aid campaign launched by its employees in an effort to help the flood-stricken Pakistan.

The executives of Ziraat Bankasi have decided to extend a 2 million Turkish lira financial aid to Pakistan as part of a campaign initiated by the bank's employees, a statement from Ziraat Bankasi said on Tuesday.

The personnel of Ziraat Bankasi have recently launched an aid campaign to help victims of the flood disaster in Pakistan. The campaign will run until October 4, 2010.

Floods, caused by Monsoon rains, have killed thousands of people and left millions homeless in Pakistan since late July.

Erdogan to visit Pakistan after Turkey's key referendum [ WORLD BULLETIN- TURKEY NEWS, WORLD NEWS ]

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday he planned to visit Pakistan with a large technical delegation right after Sunday's referendum in Turkey.

Erdogan received the chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisarciklioglu at the Official Residence in Ankara on Monday.

Hisarciklioglu presented Prime Minister Erdogan a check worth 7 million TL (approx. 4.66 million USD) and collected from TOBB members to help flood-hit Pakistan and its people.

Speaking to reporters while receiving Hisarciklioglu, Erdogan said that he planned to visit Pakistan with a large technical delegation following Sunday's referendum in Turkey.

We are in constant touch with Pakistani officials and want to help Pakistan recover after floods hit many parts of this country. We will visit flood-hit regions of Pakistan and will take necessary steps to help our Pakistani brothers and sisters, Erdogan also said.
