What's new

Turkic World Photos/News/Discussions.

The UEFA Europa League draw just finished and one of the groups will be the most interesting to me (and it should be to most Turks too). In Group C Istanbul Basaksehir will play against Braga, Hoffenheim and Ludogorets Razgrad from Bulgaria. Ludogorets is Bulgaria's champion in the last 6 years- a team where one of Bulgaria's richest people Kiril Domuschiev invested a lot of money mostly in buying brazilians and other foreign players though. :D

The name Ludogorets is the Bulgarian for "Deliormanli" and Razgrad and the area around it are right at the center of the area of Northeastern Bulgaria named Deliorman- a majority Turkish populated area. :D This area is the birthplace of many Turkish wrestlers who have won olympic, world and european titles and medals. They are also home to Hergeleci Ibrahim, to Koca Yusuf and Filiz Nurullah which together with Kara Osman from Plovdiv (Filibe) were part of the "Turkish invasion" in the wrestling in Western Europe and North America in the end of the 19th and the begining of the 20th century.

Here is a small movie from TRT about the Team and the city of Razgrad.

Karabağ, rakibine 2-1 mağlup olmasına rağmen deplasman kuralıyla toplamda 2-2'lik skorla tur atlayan taraf oldu. Karabağ bu sonuçla Şampiyonlar Ligi'nde gruplara kalmayı başaran ilk Azerbaycan takımı oldu!

Tarihi gecenin coşkusunu taraftar ve oyuncular Azerbaycan bayraklarıyla birlikte Atatürk'lü Türk Bayrakları açarak kutladı.

Here is another Turk team in the C.L., which is the first one in Azerbaijan. Congrats to both Turk teams in Europe.

Btw, I have talked to a few young Turks living in Bulgaria, and suprisingly they spoke Istanbul Turkish.
