President of Turkey-Pakistan Cultural Association Burhan Kayaturk stated the entire world is aware of the sufferings of innocent Kashmiri people in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

In his speech at “Jammu & Kashmir – the key to peace and stability in South Asia”seminar organized at Ankara, Kayaturk said Turkey will continue to support Pakistan and the people of Kashmir till the final resolution of Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. “Without resolution of the Kashmir problem, lasting peace cannot be achieved in the region,” he added.

News and Programme Director of the Arabic service of Turkish Radio & Television Mr. Mehmet Ozturk in his remarks explained in detail the genesis of Kashmir issue. He said the international community should take notice of the large scale violations of human rights of the innocent Kashmiris. He said despite United Nations Security Council Resolutions calling for UN administered plebiscite, this basic right of the Kashmiri people has not yet been granted to them. He urged all the Muslim countries to help the people of Kashmir and make efforts for early resolution of this long lasting dispute.

Turkey's official stance on Kashmir: Self-determination

NEW YORK – Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said that Turkey is ready to play its due role for a peaceful settlement of longstanding Kashmir issue and the solution should be acceptable to Pakistan, India and Kashmiri people – the real stakeholders.


“Aspirations of Kashmiri people for self-determination must be addressed in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and Turkey is ready to play its due role in this regard,” he said during a sideline meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu Kashmir here at the UN headquarters in New York. The meeting was chaired by OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Manani.

In July 2014, His Excellency President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe issued the following statement:-

"When there is a dispute over territory or international agreements, then the warrior within the leader of a nation must take charge. We must not sit by indefinately waiting for the other side to engage in talks with us. We must not rush off to the international community begging and pleading for what we believe is rightfully ours. We must not complain if we bow down to a financially mightier nation who treats us like a beggar at the corner of a street. When I believed that Britain was not genuine about the Lancaster House Agreement I then did what I believe was the correct thing. I ordered that white farms be invaded and I challenged the British to war if they felt that I was wrong. If I just complained and complained then even if my case was viewed sympathetically by every other nation of the world except Britain, I would always be viewed suspiciously and never be taken seriously. That would have eroded my credibility and the White British farmers would have ruled my country economically forever."

His words seem apt in the context of Pakistan's approach towards Kashmir
