Turkey’s Hisar-A SAM passed into serial production

2020 Surface to air missile/gun schedule of Turkish defence industry!

  • Korkut SPAAG deliveries will continue
  • PORSAV ManPads with active warhead will be test fired against a real target
  • Hisar-A will be delivered to Turkish Land Forces
  • Hisar-O with active warhead will be test fired against a jet powered drone
  • We may see Siper long altitude SAM design

Turkish industry will produce the Hisar family as following;

  • 45 Hisar-A towed platform
  • 45 Hisar-A self propelled otonom
  • 1 Battalion and 3 Battery Hisar-O initially.

1 battery Hisar-O: 18 ready to fire missiles. 1 Battalion Hisar-O contains 3 battery, 9 missile vehicle and 54 ready to fire missile system.

I hope Pakistan is keeping an eye on this system ..
I hope we are also developing such *

Step by step ! Medium altitude Hisar-O will follow the steps of Hisar-A. It is also in trial phase and I think We will see Hisar-O to pass into serial production within 8-10 months. Later, Siper long altitude missile will pass into serial production in 2022/23.

Siper is the name of missile? Then what is the name of long range system ?

And what are the basic specifications of Hisar A and O in terms of range, tracking targets locks, altitude and speed ?

Just in time to welcome Rafale
Egyptian rafales ?

Previous degisign shown in this post was changed to meet operational requirements of TLF.

Siper is the name of long range area air defence system and the missiles to be used on this system will be called as Siper/Hisar-U missiles.

You must be feeling proud !!!

Nice to hear this. Do you have any idea of the price of Hisar A ?

I want to compare it with our FM-90

Hisar-A will track an object having similar RCS with an air superiority aircraft around a range from 25km. The Hisar-A missiles are able to engage the targets a range from 15km (brochure figure) in real ~20+km.

Hisar-O will track an object having similar RCS to an air superiority aircraft around a range from 60km, cargo planes from ~90+km. The radar is able to track/follow more than 60 targets simultaneously. Hisar-O missiles are able to engage the targets a range from 25km (brochure figure) in real 30+km.

Hisar-O missiles with an active Rf seeker guidance technology is being developed at present. This missile will have an engagement range around 45-50km.

That is the systems developed under the network centric layered air defense concept. All missiles are the members of same technology family but they are going to protect different layers under same national network.

I think Hisar-O export prospects will be limited as it only has a claimed range of 25km. Turkey needs to make an extended range version if it wants to sell abroad as 50km range is rapidly becoming the standard for medium-range SAMs.

It is also under development phase and The SSB has declared the reason of development of new Hisar-O+ variant with almost same theme you have formed above. Export ! :)

Sounds not much to me.

In acc to changing needs, The capability enhancement studies are being applied for Hisar family. Turkish network centric Hisar based surface to air missile umbrella will be established as following;

  • Hisar-Portable MANPADS (6km range) will be revealed in this year
  • Hisar-A autonom (15km range) will be produced with limited number
  • Hisar-A fixed variants will be enhanced into the level of current Hisar-O. (25+km range)
  • Hisar-O will be enhanced to a range around ~50km. (SSB strategy document 2018-2022 highlights a range more than 40km).
  • Siper will have ~120km
  • Long altitude long range anti-ballistic missiles (~100-150km altitude). Aselsan commenced development of divert attitude control system in 2018.
  • Same Hisar launchers will be able to fire Göktuğ A2A missiles (G missiles) Hisar-G and their longer range variants (G+ missiles) Hisar-G+, equipped with a booster.

This is what I have been saying for a long time

Why would a country purchase Hisar-O when they can instead purchase BUK M2E from Russia or BUK M1-2 from Ukraine?

Hisar-O should be 40km range at bare minimum

With regards to Hisar-A range is not as important as engagement altitude. It should be able to engage low altitude targets at a decent enough accuracy and at lowest altitude possible. 15km range for such a system is okay and pretty much makes it on par with first generation of Pantsir.

2 axis DACS system tested by Tubitak SAGE. They highlighted a long range air defence missile program as a primary usage area. Turkish THAAD missiles will use 5 DoF DASC system.

It is known that Tubitak SAGe is working on a SAM missile having cold-launch technology. It is believed that G-40 Naval missiles that will replace ESSM in TN will have cold-launchable one.

I think they will first develop DACS as a means to transition missile from vertical launch to horizontal flight. Later advancements in the technology will yield THAAD type missile.

Similar to Sea Ceptor CAMM

Great news.
How does Siper compare to the s400 system.
