Turkey is searching for new methods and devices to secure its southern borders following the upsurge in
illegal crossings by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), daily Hürriyet reported.

The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have been insisting on the observation zeppelins used by the U.S. army along the U.S.-Mexican border and in Afghanistan.

Observation zeppelins are being produced by several prominent U.S. and Israeli defense technology firms.

Zeppelins will be modified with the attachment of radar and optical systems produced by Aselsan, Turkey's leading defense technology firm. The estimated cost of zeppelins is around $60 million.

What's observation zeppelins

It's a zeppelin fitted with all kind of cameras to watch over large areas. It'll make it easier to track down infiltrators coming into the country.

These are fantastic. There is also a project by the US, I think , by Lockheed Martin for a stratospheric Airship. Think about it like a nuclear submarine. Can be up indefinitely except based on human requirements. You also, get remotely controlled airships which can scan an area and come back to base.

Well, Israeli systems are excluded

f your shitty systems , america gives you all them anyway so we get them from the proper maker - original

These are the zeppelins i talked about on another thread few months, we should definetly acquire them they are awesome. They are used by ISAF in Afghanistan to watch over large areas for taliban insurgents , the best thing about them is they can stay in air for days without need for fuel because they can recharge themselves during daylight.I hope US Senate will not stop the deal so we can get them as soon as possible.

There is a cheaper solution of Aselsan named "Kaşif" i don't know if there was any procurement of it. US was trying lots of different things in Afghanistan for instance: Constant Hawk / Constant Hawk - Afghanistan (CH-A)

However, I want to talk about an article that was written by orko_8 a while ago on Gogron Stare. WAAS I think i liked it more. It's simply about equipping the UAV with an overwhelming number of day and IR cameras. If we adopt this approach, ANKA B could be heavily equipped with a full load of electro-optics instead of weapons payload. I need to say though it's extremely problematic but i still think it's worth a shot.

After all, what use do UCAVs have after having tens of T129s and AC235s in the air? :)
