Turkey honoured Allama Mohammad Iqbal with the Dost Award in recognition of his services for Islam, reported Radio Pakistan on Saturday.

The award was received by Allama Iqbal's grandson, Walid Iqbal, from the Turkish Minister for Culture and Tourism Nabi Avci in a ceremony held in Konya, Turkey.

"Through this award, we honour the late Mohammad Iqbal for his contributions to the cause of Muslim political thought, which still inspires people in the entire world," said Avci.

Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkey Sohail Mahmood highlighted the depth of love, affection and respect among Turkish people and leadership for Iqbal.

Mahmood added that Iqbal and his teachings continue to form part of the most enduring bonds between the Turkish and Pakistani nations.

and Government of Pakistan "honoured" Allama Muhammad Iqbal by declaring his birthday as working day in Pakistan.
Not a holiday means every thing ...
Think how must profit Pakistan just made in one day. And if was a holiday than that was our own loss..

Using the same logic, we should also eliminate the holidays of 23 March, 14 August, 1st May, 25th December. Right??

oh wait ... we cannot eliminate the holiday of 25 December because uncle SAM will be angry!!!

Who says that we give holiday on 25th December because its Founder's Day??? This holiday is now given in Pakistan because of Christmas. If you doubt this, try eliminating the that holiday and then see Uncle SAM coming after you.

We are losing millions daily in corruption and you are lamenting on a single day holiday!!! o_O

23 March,

Yes.

14 August,

NO. National day . only this one Holiday should be allowed.

Yes.

25th December.

Only for Non-Christians. Pakistan have only 1% (more or less) Christians. for these 1% people you can not shutdown the whole Pakistan for whole day. Only Christians should be allowed to enjoy Christmas holidays.

we cannot eliminate the holiday of 25 December

You can.

You must be kidding right !!! :o:

In the whole wide world, the successful nations honour their Founding Fathers & their martyrs as a token of respect and gratitude; commemorate their successes as a nation to boost the morale of the nation. And here we are; doing everything opposite and expecting to be successful and respected in the world. :tsk:

Dear, there are general styles and there are personal styles. The general style world-wide is to declare holiday as a token of respect and gratitude towards founding fathers of the nation; a way to show the world that we respect them. If you like some different way of celebrate the founder of Pakistan or commemorate achievements of this nation, then please do as you please ( and i have no issues with it). But DO NOT try to justify your personal opinion by pointing your finger towards the 60% illiterate people of Pakistan.

I didn't cracked any joke, it was sarcasm.!!
