National Anti-Submarine Warfare system developed for submarine warfare attracts interest with its high quality, as part of Turkey's campaign for nationalizing its defense industry

Turkish government aims at nationalizing the defense system utterly by supporting domestic research and development processes and production in order to better defend its national interests through military means.

As part of this project, many private companies and other small and medium businesses are working incessantly on nationalizing Turkey's defense industry.

Yeni Şafak thus evaluated Anti-Submarine Defense Warfare (ASW/DHS) Rockets and Launchers System, developed by Roketsan, a state-run missiles and related weapons manufacturer and defense contractor based in Ankara.

Roketsan's ASW system draws attention as one of newest and most advanced underwater defensive weapons systems. Developing to be used on underwater targets by launching from ground platforms, the system can be effectively utilized on a range between 500 and 2000 meters and at 15 – 300 meters depths.

A cheaper and more effective defensive weapon

The Anti-Submarine Defense Warfare system of Roketsan has been developed to easily and economically neutralize underwater threats which is costly with torpedoes because sonars are not able to precisely detect littoral targets.

Having an automatic control mechanism, the ASW system works integrated with steering weapons system and sonars of ground centers.

Besides and more importantly, the ASW missiles with high-explosive warheads have the “Insensitive Munitions" (IM) feature which is seen indispensable in modern warfare technology. Its launcher system has been developed with stabilization as well as automatic and manual steering qualities.

The launching control system calculates necessary firing essentials by using information on the navigation and target, provided by the ground control platform.

Roketsan DSH system was fully operational since years ago?

"500 and 2000 meters and at 15 – 300 meters depths" Didn't impress me. It's a very short range torpedo. However Turkey has awesome naval ships but poor systems and poor defense for those nice ships.

Thank you Turkey for developing this system. We're all rooting for you!

300 meter depts? not enough How deep is the mediterranean see do you think? It is enough for cost defence the purpose of the missile is much more for corvette with multirole capabality.

Easy gents its ASW Rocket system. Not all ASW weaponry are necessarily required to be long range torpedoes. There are wide varieties of torpedoes by specification, guidance and therefore other systems like that of Rokatsan's ASW system. Speaking of which, we need long range aircraft and unmanned systems if we really want to fill the gaps of today and tomorrow in anti-surface. In both cases we have projects going on. P-8 will do well which is the exact platform we intend to buy. In my opinion the best way to ignite a submarine goes by excellence in cooperation and network between the surface combatants and MPA/ASW aircraft if not another submarine.

We had animation film of it. Turkish Armed Forces youtube channel shared live firing footage few hours ago.
