Turkey Contained ?

I think turkey should get out of NATO and include itself in the Eurasian union (SCO). These are the reasons why:

- In any RussoChinese - NATO conflict, Turkey will be the first country to bear the burnt of a retailiation from Russia. So, its better to ally itself with Russia (a superpower in close proximity) rather than USA. This will also solve the Central Asian issue because a mediation can be reached. Otherwise, Turkey is effectively just a proxy of USA against Russia/China right now and will be the first one to get destroyed and occupied if Russia retaliates to NATO encirclement.

- EU is not ready to accept Turkey yet, simply (according to me) because they are muslim majority.

- Humanitarian issue (NATO killing millions of muslims worldwide), greater support from Muslim world.

NATO really have any more purpose but Turkey is using both it's NATO and Islamic identity to try and influence both Central Asia and the Middle East similiar to Iran, I believe Turkey will influence syria if assad falls.

as for the middle east, how will Turkey ever get in?
Iran showed them the finger, Iraq is Irans playground.
saudi arabia will never let them in as Turkey is a secular islamic country, and saudi arabia will never let its people get any Idea about becoming an secular nation.

turkey is trying to get best of both world, but in end they will never become part of any.

There are differences, and to be honest liberal Turks doesn't have great opinion about Arabs but the policies of goverments decided by money and Turkey has the potential to make tons of money out of Arab market... Turkey already did that with Iraq, %25 of Iraqi imports are from Turkey and Turkey was doing the same thing with Syria until they rejected the offer about pipeline with KSA/Turkey... And things went down the hill...

About Egypt, even though they rejected it Turkey still ecxported good amount of arms to Egypt and propably the imports and investment to Egypt will raise to sustain the good relationship. Egypt has the largest population in Arab world and the market there will be gold mine if Turkey could do some clever politics...

Like you said, Central Asia is a trick place... Russia has to control central Asia because of its need of buffer zone, China has to keep Turkey out because of the fear of ethnic nationalism... Turkey can't do much about that until she can challenge Russia or convice China about its fears of ethnic nationalism.

I'm aware of the first part I do think Turkey-Arab trade will be bigger, yes Egypt-Turkey on a path of a strategic partnership however both france and the uk are fighting for influence in the region as well. I don't think Turkey will join in any arab union.

Russia needs Central Asia for economic and other purposes if turkey can hardly get any influence in central asia, in xinjiang it's unless. I don't think Turkey will be able to Challange Russia in Central Asia because it even wants the USA out of central asia.
