My grandfather is a veteran of Korean war, and i recently find a military book which tells about the war published by Turkish military....Russians were doing the same thing, back at the time, invading north of Korea, imposing a communist regime, banning all non-Communist parties from north Korea, refusing to withdraw their troops under the supervision of UN. Making North-Korea build up it's military while South-Korea was trying to improve it's economy and infrastructure. And finally making North Korea to attack South Korea....they never changed, playing same old dirty game of theirs even decades later.

For instance I have witnessed personally in the Turkish army in basic training they will ask if any one of the soldiers have a family member that has died "sehit" while fighting in the army, and the soldiers that raise their hands up are usually sent to places far away from terrorism. This way the Turkish army is nice to the families for their sacrifice so 2 brothers or father + son don't die etc.

Kind of like saying thank you for your loyalty you get a free pass now.

There is something similar with my dad being in the Cyprus war, but not sure how it works.

They told me if it's like a big war say Russia vs Turkey then everyone has to go fight, but if it's minor drafting I don't need to because of my father. But I am not sure how it really works.
