TTP's matter for Pakistan to resolve, not Afghanistan: Taliban spokesperson

Says Taliban's stance is to not allow use of Afghan soil to destroy peace of another country

KARACHI:
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid has said that the issue of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is not for Afghanistan to resolve but must be solved by the Pakistani government.
The spokesperson’s comments came during an interview with a private news channel when he was questioned if Taliban leaders would ask the TTP to not engage in conflict with Pakistan.
It is dependent upon Pakistan, and Pakistani ulema, not the Taliban, to decide whether or not the TTP’s war is legitimate and to formulate a strategy in response,” Mujahid stated.
He emphasised that the future Afghan government, made under the Taliban, would have a rightful say regarding the matter.
“However, our stance is that the Afghan soil will not be used by anyone to destroy the peace of another country,” he maintained, adding that if the TTP considered the Taliban their leaders they would follow their orders.
New government
According to the spokesperson, full-fledged efforts are being made to create a government in Afghanistan. However, he added that there have been minor setbacks.
"Entering Kabul suddenly and taking over the government was unanticipated. We want to hold wide-ranging talks regarding the formation of a government, so that a strong government can be created," he said.
Mujahid reiterated that the Taliban wanted to put an end to the war and create a system with everyone’s input and representation of the people’s wishes.
The spokesperson hoped the Taliban would make an announcement regarding the formation of a new government in a few days.

He further claimed that advice from talks with former Afghan president Hamid Karzai and former chief executive officer, Dr Abdullah Abdullah, besides former vice presidents, Yunus Qanuni and Abdul Rashid Dostum, is being considered.
"We are consulting all leaders present in Kabul. We are in touch with them, and their recommendations are important to us," he added.
Mujahid stated that the Taliban will avoid the inclusion of those who were at the centre of the conflict in the past, and instead opt for individuals who have peoples' support.
He reiterated that leaders of the past will not be sidelined and will be consulted routinely.
Panjshir valley
Commenting on the control of the Panjshir valley, where an anti-Taliban resistance under Ahmed Massoud of the National Resistance Front has escalated, Mujahid claimed that the militant group is "60% confident that the issue can be resolved through talks".
The spokesperson said the Taliban want to bring Panjshir under their control and hoped it would not come down to a war.
"This way the honour of the people there will remain intact, and we will treat them with respect," he added.
Mujahid maintained that the leaders in Panjshir had indicated they do not want war in talks with the Taliban.
According to the spokesperson, if a war did breakout the Taliban’s victory would be swift because they have the valley “surrounded” and are present in Badakhshan, Paghman and Takharo Parwan.

they are right. ttp are basically Pakistani citizens, a criminal gang of thugs & thieves masquerading as Islamists. they have no business being in Afghanistan. the new Taliban government should and will simply hand them over to us and if they refuse to leave them the Taliban government will either kill them or arrest them and hand them over to us.

As long as they are not sheltered or hosted that's fine. Pin them against the border regions and kill each and every last one of them.
The border needs to be strengthened even more now.
Sorry to say our dumb govt alowed any one can pass flood of refuges are coming every day soon you see less pakistanis than afghanis

I would've said that let our F-16 pays them (TTP) a visit then, but then I realize who is sitting in our GHQ :(

This is why the Police, FC, and Border guards need to be strengthen to minimize movement except at approved border crossings. Also police need intel capabilities to arrest criminals and reduce the ranks of potential recruits. Even miscreants not killed should be put away in jails in accordance with the law to deter people from joining. If possible rehabilitated if assurances can be guaranteed by their tribal chiefs, so that the tribal system is used to keep these elements in check.

overall, economic development will have to be stepped up in these areas so members of the public are dissuaded from working for militants.

Mining in Afghanistan could be processed in part in these areas and then in larger Pakistani cities and finally exported. It would be a way to create an ecosystem that reinforces development and undercuts militancy.

minimizing how many people killed will minimize how many people hold a grudge against the government, even if these people were militants. It’s the nature of COIN.

btw, while the US is claiming they are worried about ISKP infiltrating into Pakistan, they should release those AH-1Z cobras ASAP and the 1000 hellfire missiles for Pakistan. It would go someway in helping Pakistan to keep the threat contained.

or they could handover the apaches in a hot transfer.

Propaganda - intentionally twisted context.

TTP will not be allowed to operate against Pakistan from Afghanistan. TTP are Pakistani citizens and they (including their families) will be made to leave Afghanistan. Once in Pakistan, it is up to Pakistan what it should do to them.

Brother, I dont think you fully understand or realise what the Taliban's presence in Pakistan means.

The Taliban leadership or their fighters travel back and forth between Pakistan and Afghanistan at will. They don't require permission or approval from the Pakistani State neither they need to inform or clarify their activities to the Pakistan State.

The Taliban have never bothered with these protocols and Pakistan has not interfered with their movements except on some rare occasions as per my previous post.

Therefore, claiming or portraying that the Taliban is the brainchild of Pakistani military or their fighters are de-facto foot soldiers of Pakistan Army or that Pakistani State enjoys a strong and co-hesive relationship with the Taliban is incorrect.

Pakistan from day one has denied the presence of the Taliban in the country and also denied political and military links with the Taliban. At best, Pakistan only monitors their movement for it's own national security purposes.

What Pakistan has confirmed and repeated many a times is that Pakistan has/has had limited influence over the Taliban through Pakistani citizens (pukhtoons) who are related with the Taliban.

These relatives can hold high positions in Pakistani politics and/or in the military, or these Pakistani citizens may have contacts with people of authority in Pakistan. The State has never tried to break these links between the Afghan Pukhtoon and the Pakistani Pukhtoon due to the tribal and cultural sensitivities.

Why? Simply because Pakistan does not want a full blown unrest at the border parallel to LoC. The same is true on the Afghan sode hence the Taliban are saying, TTP is Pakistan's internal matter.

So, when you're day-dreaming and imagining Pakistani Generals holding Corps Commander like regular meetings with the Taliban leadership or Pakistani Generals laying out plans to Taliban fighters or ISI agents based in Afghanistan radioing in information to the Taliban, none of that has been happening. It's time to wake up.

As I said it's not 2001.

There is no free movement across the border any more. Most who cross do have documents and they can b denied at will..

I don't know which world you live in.

But chapli clad people simply don't desolve superpowers... Other nuclear powers desolve superpowers using chapli clad proxies.

So, TTP leadership and their army of terrorists have been presenting their documents since 2007 whenever they wanted to cross the border willy nilly?

Around 60,000 Pakistanis killed since 2007.

I think we should expect some new twist to this old story now. With next generation of game planners, the old schools of thoughts are diminishing fast.

I can't speak for others but some of us knew what was coming
Pakistan never expected AT to kick out TTP or fight them
Humor me on this

“TTP is not our problem but Pakistan’s”:

1. The IEA is a fledgling collection of individuals and cannot afford to be involved on too many fronts - it still has the Panjshir situation and ISIS-K to tackle let alone start off with TTP

2. “If they follow us they will lay down arms” - peaceful surrender is an option for TTP fighters

and if not

3.“Pakistan’s problem” and “we will not let our territory be used” - Pakistan can come in and handle it and we will look the other way. No more foreign presence or aircraft or anything for Pakistan to take into calculus.
Any and all Pakistani assets heretofore needing covert ops or otherwise can now be overt including airstrikes or anything needed to clear everything out.

If my reading above is even 70% accurate, I say it’s exactly what Pakistan wants

Don't you think sending troops inside Afghanistan will raise some eye brows and it can cause some internal rift specially in the KPK region, as PTM will surely exploit this against Pakistan.

Totally agreed, when Turkey, Iran, India and Israel don't shy away from taking kinetic action against their adversities across the border or even beyond immediate, why didn't Pakistan in the past and solved this TTP, BLM, BLF problem once and for all.. Why should anyone else solve Pakistan's problems.

PTM is dead. So is Indian presence in Afghanistan.
