TTP finalises 15 point draft for talks

The list shows that TTP are very immature - very childish demands (equal rights for rich and poor?).

'Stop all relations with the US'? Does that mean no more business / no more diplomacy?

they may not be immature, it shows their real intention is not peace dialogues, their priorities are to stack up as much weapons and ammunition as possible in between the cease fire period and they gain a better advantage for the offensive

OK here is my pov on these demands.

Acceptable

Nothing wrong with that either

Negotiable

A big no. Not negotiable.

Nothing wrong with that either.

Not possible at this time.

Again not possible at this time.

Such serious offenses can't be dropped that easily. Not possible again at this time.

Nope...

Might be the best demand in the list. Acceptable.

Acceptable

There is Islamic banking already in practice. More can be done to make it more close to Islamic teachings.

OK. But no foreign fighter would be allowed to use Pakistani territory to wage wars on others. WOT or not.

Nope.... Some changes can be made. But democracy would stay in Pakistan.

Not possible.

ditto, same view here !

I feel like even they didn't think they'd be given so much respect, so they had to make this list in the last minute!

Maybe they have realised that the game is over and are now trying to find any kind of face-saving deal - which is why the demands are so wishy-washy. I note that they have not demanded anything ridiculous like full imposition of their sharia?

The points are as follows:

1) Stop drone attacks.
I am Fine with that , reasonable demand .

2) Introduce Sharia law in courts.
it is already there ,.

3) Introduce Islamic system of education in both public and private educational institutions.
Already exists

4) Free Pakistani and foreign Taliban captured in jails.
Not Happening except maybe for few prisioners

5) Restoration and remuneration for damage to property during drone attacks.
Fair Enough , and acceptable , Army already working on that .

6) Hand over control of tribal areas to local forces.
It can be done with some modifications

7) Withdrawal of army from tribal areas and close down check posts.

13) Stop supporting the US on the war on terror.

15) Stop all relations with the US.
Not Happening

So with all those demands only few are acceptable others are not , even if NS wants he cannot accept those demands . at the end either TTP will agree on our demands , or an operation will occur

except for few points most of the demands can be met if govt intends!

some demands are reasonable, while others are negotiable.

I am surprised that we are talking about meeting their demands. First and foremost thing is that they should stop terrorist activities. Second they should agree to lay down the arms. Both this is not happening.

As regard the wish list is concerned, certain points mentioned in this list should otherwise be implemented in Pakistan, which will be according to constitution and not their wish. However, this list does indicate one thing and that is the hidden dream of MNS to become Amir ul Momneen.

What is Pakistan's official wishlist or agenda of the talks with the TTP?

This is how negotiations go forward. we discuss and workout. you have said very rightly, we should in return put our demands and work out on time frame.

May be gurkhas are fearless enough to engage taliban like this but as for as i know pakistani faujis try to avoid engaging taliban in direct combat, as there are always heavy casaulties in direct gun to gun battle, terrain is always helpful to taliban...the focus is on artillary shelling and tanks, gunship helicopters and back up of air force when taliban are offering very tough resistance....due to this fear of death in faujis, TTP darely attacks posts of army on mountains, ambushes caravans on road....As for as SSG commandos are concerned, they were used against taliban but ended up killed in surprisingly large numbers, now they are not used that much. Taliban themeselves are like commandos, infact more tough and sharp due to mountains being their home turf.
Aim of a fauji is to not get killed while aim of a taliban is to kill....army has not been able to defeat taliban because they are not natural predators like taliban, they are pre-occupied about returning safely to their families.
