I am pretty sure if the war break out between the US and China, Russia will see this as an excellent opportunity to take back Ukraine and revive the USSR by annexing those East European countries.

While China will not only have a much larger nuclear arsenal, but also being armed to the teeth with the HGV and anti-missile/satellite defense when single handedly dealing with the USA.

China's nuclear arsenal is unknown even to American military. building more nukes is easy for China. the West keep saying China nuclear stockpiles is small hoping China would be angry and come out in public with a true number. Chinese leaders too smart for that. no sense revealing your actual nukes.

well what has been tried in past and not worked is not a proof that things will not work in future either...having said i agree that chances are bleak...i just said that if at all it happens then America do have a good bargaining chip...

Rather US has to come out of its strategy to treat itself as a global school master and giving character certificate which is good and bad for each country...I think Russia and China relation has progressed so much with so much of interdependancy that it is too late for US to get into it.

Time has come where Asian nations should understand and empathize with each other make an Asian century. China, Japan, India, Singapore, GCC and Iran should make some economic pact or something like that to provide preferntial trade benefit to Asian nations.

I concur that, but China to build up an extra robust nuclear deterrence is not going to affect that.

I agree with you...We are living on a time, where trade with China is not a luxury rather dependancy...Sooner every one will understand, it is better. I know that some of my Indian friends are upset with my post, but we should go by the facts.

I am equally critical of China and its alliance with Pakistan, but that does not discount the fact, that export of Manufacturing good from China is a necessity in rest of the world, wheather any one likes it or not. So for China, i am sure, no one will attack you as other nations economy is too much dependent and integrated with other wold economy that no one can afford to bomb you...

Yeah, Nixon style....let's observe the difference in situation:

1. When Nixon visited China, China and USSR each has a million men army standing on each other border and prepared to fight a nuclear war. Today's China...is Russia's biggest trade partner and the largest chunk of their foreign income.

2. When Nixon visted China, China and US has no conflict of interest. The Korean Peninsula is at peace (North Korea follows USSR anyway, so as long as it stays up as a strategic barrier, China doesn't care what it did with South Korea). The Japanese was cooperating with China. So for a similar situation to occur today, US must full withdraw from all nations around Syria. Wash its hands off Ukraine and all Eastern Europe nations.

3. When Nixon visited China, the Europeans (and many other US allies) had jumped in bed with China for a long time. France, UK and Italy already traded with China for a long time and provided a lot of the technological and military transfer to China. So to emulate the situation today, US would need to disband NATO, withdraw all its base from Europe.

So there you go, if you can meet these conditions, you can probably "pull a Nixon" on Russia. The premise behind Nixon's choice to ally with China is rather simple: Both China and US had a common enemy in the form of USSR. Both China and US have no direct conflict of interest to hinder an alliance. The alles of China and US at the time are also not against the alliance, so there is little cost. In contrast, today's Russia and US have no common enemy. (China is Russia's ally and China isn't exact an enemy of US either, it is more of a tough competition.) They are also in direct conflict with each other and US' major allies will not tolerate an alliance with Russia.

No one can afford to bomb China because of its huge economy, but China also has to make sure no one can afford to bomb her because its extra strong military.

true however there are always some chinks in the armor...for a starter the sanctions have played havoc in Russian economy and if(there is a big if) trump and putin can get along than softening some of these sanctions is good bargaining chip with US...

Erm, let me translate that "So you are saying that in order for you to ease your one-sided sanction on us, we have to do what you say and cut off trading with our biggest trade partner?" Dude, I think at this point you are insulting Russian people's IQ.
