Trump assigns Rand Paul as Iran liaison, sources tell Politico

Northern alliance after American war became part of Afghanistan government and Iran have good relation with Kabul.

Iran do not have any official relation with Taliban or do not control them, that is not true.
So Americans and Iranians have same ally in Afghanistan lol

Now Who do you think is providing intel and arms to Taliban and helping them inflict some much damage on your puppet afghan military?
Are you suggesting that Iran is supplying taliban?

It's continuation of carrot and stick policy, nothing important.

Of course now the support may not be drastic or gamechanging. Mostly through intelligence arms of IRGC. The old saying of The enemy of your enemy is your friend.

Iran wants US out of Afghanistan, the Taliban will help accelerate that. After that, Iran can deal with both parties (Afghan government and Taliban) for some type of understanding. But the national security concern for Iran is the US in Afghanistan and that concern takes precedent over anything else.

I completely disagree with you on this one.

All iri policies are ideology drive . Meaning tactics is dictated by strategy which in term is dictated by ideology. That is why Iri will never go for nuclear weapons (fatwa) and never ever support a wahabi group.

Ideologic driven politics is not flexible and does not allow maneuvers such as the ones you outlined. On the other hand it fosters die hard supporters. Do you think supporters of iri would willingly sacrifice themselves in war for what they believe to be a divine cause if their leaders were supporting the past/present enemies? The second iri starts sacrificing on their ideology is the start of their fall. It’s their best line of defense.

First of all Taliban are not takfiri, you are confusing Taliban with Al-Queda. They are sewed to Afghanistan as much as the current government is.

Also Iran has many Al-Queda leadership under house arrest in Iran that is why you haven’t seen any Al-Qaeda sponsored attacks in Iran. Iran has deep leverage over Al-Qaeda.

Lastly you seem to be incapable of understanding how intelligence arms work and that sometimes means dealing with characters that are not in your direct sphere of influence.

During Iran-Iraq war, Israel supplied arms to iran and even had coordination intelligence sharing on striking Iraq’s nuclear reactor. That is because Israel saw the bigger opponent (threat) being a nuclear powered Iraq.

So you can disagree all you want, but it doesn’t change the narrative. Taliban is a not a threat to iran, but US is. Iran will find anyway to create pain for US. If roles were reversed US would do the same thing (see ISIS in Iraq as an example).

US President Donald Trump has reportedly assigned Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) as a liaison to Iran in a stated effort to de-escalate tensions with Tehran.

Trump signed off the proposal this weekend, four US officials toldPolitico on Wednesday.

The report was released a day after Trump and his state secretary, Mike Pompeo, spoke of “progress” and “deal” with Iran.

US President Donald Trump and his state secretary, Mike Pompeo, speak of “progress” and “deal” with Iran.

According to Politico, assignment of the “dovish” Kentucky Republican could hamper the administration’s so-called “maximum pressure” campaign.

On Saturday, Paul played a round of golf with the president at his club in Sterling, Virginia, along with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and David Perdue (R-Ga.).

Neither the White House nor Paul’s office has commented about US media questions on a meeting between Paul and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is currently in New York.

Iran has strongly dismissed a report that its missile program could be up for negotiation with the United States.

The anti-war senator waned Pompeo during an April hearing on Capitol Hill about going to war with Iran through bypassing congressional approval.

“You do not have the permission of Congress to go to war with Iran,” Paul told Pompeo. “Only Congress can declare war.”

The report came on the foothills of restrictions imposed on Zarif during his New York visit.

PressTV-‘US travel restrictions on Iranian diplomats inhuman’
Zarif says US travel restrictions on Iranian diplomats are inhuman.

Tehran has said that the restrictions imposed on Zarif, travelling between the United Nations and the Iranian UN mission or the Iranian UN ambassador's residence, would not affect his “work schedule.”

The US is obliged to allow access to the United Nations, based on a 1947 agreement, involving UN headquarters.

We have hardliners that don't want anything to do with the west. On the other side the zionist controlled Neocons want to make sure relations with Iran never happen.....
