ndian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna Friday said transit through Bangladesh territories is completely for peaceful purposes.

He said this while addressing a lecture on "India and Bangladesh: Partners in Progress" organised by the Bangladesh International Institute of Strategic Studies (BIISS) at its auditorium in the capital.

Krishna, who arrived in Dhaka on July 6 for a three-day official visit to Bangladesh, left here for New Delhi at 1:30pm on board a special aircraft ending his extensive visit.

Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni saw-off him at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

During his three-day visit, he had official meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart Dipu Moni and called on Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Zillur Rahman.

He also had interaction with Editors and senior journalists in Bangladesh.

Prior to depart, Krishna paid a courtesy call on with Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office. Earlier, in the morning the Indian External Affairs Minister unveil the plaque two class rooms of Nattayakala Department of Dhaka University.

It means that no military movement will be envisaged through Bangladesh and instead, it will be for transit of commercial goods.

Obviously, as is the practice, transit charges will be paid.
