Top US general calls for military action against Iran

.
Seriously, what would he think of us if he were alive today? Hopefully proud.
I hope you can say the same thing when they manage to disintegrate the country.

A country never disintegrates when it is threatened from outside. It disintegrates from within. And a country that has maintained its integrity for 25 centuries is not going to all of a sudden disintegrate. If anything, we see that Iran's former territories are converging towards Iran: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen are good examples. The reason is our common cultural roots are so deep that defeats any political or religious differences.

.
Armin jan, what common cultural roots are you talking about? Those countries have nothing in common with Iran aside from the fact that they are Muslims and some conspiracy theories claiming Druze and Alawites being descendants of old Persian garrisons from past times.

Iranians have more common cultural roots with Turks or Pakistanis than someone in Lebanon or Syrians. Of course this is just my opinion as I never been to Lebanon, Yemen or Syria.

Cultural ties goes deeper than religion. Culture shapes peoples' thoughts and the way they see the world. It affects their ideology and way of living. It is a very complicated matter and that's why it is always miscalculated by outsiders who have tried to dominate this region. UK and US are good examples.

Thus I really can't explain what they are on the deeper layers. But on the surface, the result is that the nations with same cultural roots seem to understand and trust each other better. Europe is a good example. England, France and Germany have had the most cruel battles among each other but at the end of the day, they seem to trust and understand each other better compared to Russia which has always been considered as an outsider in Europe.

Same is true between Iran and its former territories.

Just pressure tatctics to keep Iran stick to nuclear treaty!!!
For a start its not a treaty, had it been one it likely never would have got past the us and iranian governments who would`ve had to ratify it.Now as for pressure tactics why would they need to?,iran has abided by its obligations[unlike the us and co],any pressure tactics are solely about trying to pressure iran into tearing up the agreement not abiding by it,trump and co would very much like to tear up the jcpoa but if they did that they would pay a very heavy political price....so try and force iran to do that first. This is the very big problem with making deals with the us,a deal that is done with one regime ie obama may not be honored by the successor regime ie trump, probably the most obvious case of this was the "agreed framework" or ag nuclear deal that was done with the dprk, clinton signed off on it but george bush looked for any excuse to repudiate it despite how successful it had been, altho there were many who believed that clinton had only cynically agreed to the deal because he thought that it would just buy some more time until the dprks inevitable collapse. So any agreement with the us might only have a 4-8 year lifespan.

How is Yemen former Iranian territory? I thought Iraq, Syria and Lebanon are culturally closer to Gulf Arabs than Iranians (except maybe Kurds).

Here is the Sassanian Empire map:

Looking at this will explain a lot of things. For example, for some strange reason it seems like Iran and Oman are always in good terms. Looking at the map, there is no wonder why. It used to be part of Persian empire. Yemen, also was part of Persian Empire and instrumental in control of the trade flow between China and Roman Empire.

If you consider the last 2500 years, all these countries, have spent more time as part of Iran than outside it. They may speak Arabic, but Iraq for example was part of Iran until about 3 centuries ago. Salahuddin Ayyubi who defeated the Christians and ended the crusade, was from Kurdish or Iranian origin who ruled in Syria and Egypt and established a dynasty in his name.

Well there goes India's Chabahar dream (potentially)... up in smoke before it set off a single ship....

Thank you Indians for Trump ....

I suppose during pre-Islamic times the Iranians conquered Yemen. Not sure how that would draw Yemeni people to Iran. Their men wear dresses for God's sake. Only similarity is they are Muslims. Maybe @Arminkh means they are Shia. But the Yemeni Shia are almost Sunni than Shia.

As I mentioned, it is beyond the dress or religion. Culture is about body language, the way people greet each other, the subtleties they consider when interacting with each other and ..... What I'm trying to say is there is something at works here beyond language and politics that is causing the spread of Iran's influence in the region. I personally think it is common cultural roots. The trunk and leaves may look different but the roots are the same.

You seem to have been born in Iran and now live in US. Can you explain why even those Iranians who have been raised in US, 90% of the times prefer to marry an Iranian even though they may not share any of the values that and Iranian living in Iran holds dear? It is again culture in play.

.
Attacking Iran isn't like attacking Iraq. The US should think a hundred times before taking such actions.

.
Trump isn't good for them either... but, they hate us Muslims more than they love themselves!!

Yes... my comment was tongue in cheek...

Umm.... That's cute... however... let's give this whole Persian empire thing a rest or if this catches on my Italian neighbour would start walking around with his Roman Empire soldier costume and start stabbing me with his Roman sword... my Egyptian Co - worker will start wrapping himself like a mummy and glorifying his empire... my south American Mexican friend will start walking around dressed in all the glories of the Aztec empire claiming part of the USA ... so on and so forth...

As the song goes... "what have you done for me lately... (both thousands of years ago)... ooh, ooo...yaaa.... What have you done for me lately..."

@Arminkh , no supernatural things going on in Yemen and really only portion of population is pro-Ansarullah. Yemen was occupied over 2000 years ago and Iranians didn't colonize the land aside from garrisons and their families.
Yes I am part Iranian ( from mother side bakhtiary Lor/Russian) however am not married to an Iranian. I do like Iranian tradition as was passed to me by my family.

.
We only hate Pakistan and...
Pakistan is the reason for this hatred, We have very good relation with rest of the Muslim world. I wish God had given us good neighbors like Iran instead of Pakistan.

You are fooling no one.

What about those Indians talking shit about Muslims in Europe? Calling for persecution of Muslims living in the West? Cheering for oppression against Palestinians? Calling for more wars in ME?

You say you like Iran just so they team up with you against Pakistanis. You do the same with Arabs. I don't think you like Iran - surveys don't lie:

Only 22% Indians view Iran positively - mostly Muslims!
