TLP 'Long March' to Islamabad - October 22, 2021

who is pumping money to this party ?
I have no idea ....people are already in a miserable condition for not having jobs, daily workers are the ultimate target of closing down the city main roads. My friends who live in Pindi and daily commute to Islamabad curse these people, because now they have to take the longer route ...when petrol is expensive ..

'No reservations' on any of TLP's demands except shutting down French embassy: Sheikh Rashid

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said on Tuesday that the government had "no reservations" on any of the demands put forward by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban (TLP) — which has been staging protests in the streets for the last several days — except for the shutting down of the French embassy and expulsion of the French ambassador over blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The minister, who was addressing the media in Islamabad after a meeting of the country's civil and military leadership, said there was agreement on all issues discussed with the TLP and it was decided that their demands pertaining to the French embassy and ambassador could not be accepted.
Accepting this demand would have consequences, he warned, claiming that since Pakistan was the biggest nuclear force among Muslim countries, "conspiracies are being hatched to impose sanctions on us".
"You all can see what our economic situation is and France is leading Europe. All European countries are supporting France," he said. Shutting down the French embassy here would affect Pakistan's relations with other European countries, he explained.
He reiterated that the government and TLP had reached an agreement on all other issues, while the latter had given a deadline for November 2 for the acceptance of this one demand.
If the demand was accepted, "we would face immense pressure from the international [community]," Rashid said. "We face constraints, Pakistan faces constraints, this nation of 220 million faces constraints on this matter."
All other issues raised by the TLP were not as big, he said. "And we stand by our agreement reached with them (TLP)."
He expressed the hope that the TLP would withdraw its demands for the expulsion of the French envoy and the shutting down of the French embassy.
Moreover, the minister said, the TLP had committed to end the protest and unblock roads today (Tuesday) by midnight.
"We are waiting for that, and I will get in touch with them again tonight at 8pm," he informed the presser. "After that, I will again talk to the prime minister."
He pointed out that the ongoing protest was the sixth demonstration being staged by the group,
TLP's protest
The TLP had launched the latest round of protest in Lahore on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, primarily to exert pressure on the Punjab government for the release of its chief, Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi, the son of its late founder Khadim Rizvi. The younger Rizvi has been kept in detention by the Punjab government since April 12 for “maintenance of public order".
Later, it had announced to march on Islamabad, prompting the government to block the routes leading to the capital.
However, TLP leader Pir Ajmal Qadri had later said the purpose of the move was "respect for the Holy Prophet (PBUH)", while also demanding Rizvi's release.
Meanwhile, as the group's workers had marched towards the capital, at least three policemen were martyred in clashes with them.
TLP leaders had also claimed that several of the groups workers had been injured in the clashes and scores were arrested, only to be released later.
Following the release of TLP workers, Rashid had said another round of talks with the group would be held at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad.
On Monday, Rashid had assured to fulfil the commitments the government made with the TLP during negotiations a day earlier, saying the matter would be discussed during a federal cabinet meeting on Wednesday following Prime Minister Imran Khan's return from Saudi Arabia.

Fear of TLP protest: LEAs reinforced in Rawalpindi
The TLP leaders have repudiated the interior minister’s claim that an accord has been worked out

ISLAMABAD: While Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid announced three days ago that an agreement has been reached with the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) to end its protest, the presence of law enforcement agencies in Rawalpindi is being augmented to meet any untoward situation.

A letter written by the Central Police Office (operations branch) Punjab on Oct 25, a copy of which is available with The News, has ordered the placement of personnel of the police and Punjab Constabulary (PC) at the disposal of the regional police officer (RPO) Rawalpindi for law and order duty.

The letter for the “provision of force” has been addressed to the commandant, PC, Farooqabad, the additional Inspector General Police/Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab; the RPOs of Faisalabad, Sargodha & Bahawalpur; the district police officers (DPOs) of Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalpur, Khushab and Mianwali; and the additional inspector general (AIG)/complaint, CPO, Punjab.

According to the letter, the competent authority has approved the placement of these officers/officials at the disposal of Rawalpindi RPO to tackle the evolving law and order situation. Mujeebur Rehman Bagvi, DPO, Toba Tek Singh, has been directed to send two sub-divisional police officers (SPDOs) and four SHOs (station house officers) from his district.

Capt. Mustansar Feroz, DPO, Mianwali, has been asked to dispatch two SDPOs, four SHOs and ten reserves from his jurisdiction. Muhammad Naveed, DPO, Khushab, has been ordered to spare two SDPOs, four SHOs and ten reserves from his district.

Asad Sarfraz, AIG/complaint, will send two Superintendents of Police (SPs) from the PC, and Faisal Kamran, DPO, Bahawalpur, has also been called. Dr Fahad, SP, Battalion No.2 PC, Rawat, has been asked to perform duty at the Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi.

The TLP leaders have repudiated the interior minister’s claim that an accord has been worked out and that their protesters would go back to Lahore, abandoning their long march to Islamabad. They have been camping in Muridke where they had stopped their march in view of the talks with Sheikh Rashid.

Just my two cents:

In a society like Pakistan, it's understandable that there are many factions, base on ethnics, tribes, religions, provinces. Pakistan was founded on the legacy of Indus Valley & British rule, there are lots of landlords, tribes, tycoons, religious leaders who kept their huge influence on Pakistan political agenda.

I observed that there are 2 major factors sabotage Pakistan development:
  • Outside threat: India
  • Inside threat: The fifth column and sectarianism

Outside threat consumed a lot of resource of Pakistan, creates chaos, instability. Pakistan Military is dealing with it, China helps. But inside threat is more fatal.

TLP is strengthening far-right political faction, which will create more instability. The current PTI, PPP and PML-N doctrine has some secular characters, those parties fight mainly for interest. While TLP share little spectrum with all other parties that it will fight to death, TLP is fighting for interest and religion.

Major powers around the world dislike Sharia rules, they prefer rule of secular law. This is well known.

If Pakistanis choose to be ruled by Sharia, good luck to Pakistan. Just get prepared for more international pressures.

A recent case is China and Vietnam. Major western power after WW2 dislike communism. CCP won the civil war and took the power. China was isolated by the West camp after WW2, and isolated by the West camp and Soviet camp since 1960s. But CCP did know how to defend China long term national interest, and made it.
Vietnam fought 2 decades with France and US, followed by a decade of borders conflicts with China. Today, Vietnam is doing well.

TLP is a loose organization, indiscipline. I only see religious fevers, while I don't foresee TLP has a plan how to build Pakistan and make Pakistan succeed.
