Tianjinanother Mega Chinese City on the Move

china looks very DEVELOPED despite being a mid income developing nation with per capita GDP less than that of Brazil, South Africa and Thailand.

So called empty apertments are actually sold to someone, these people just invest on these apartment and wish to sell in future (in some cities, price rise 30~60% per year!). Actually, in a couple years ago, you need waiting in a long line to buy these apartment, that is why currently, government put a big limit on buying apartment. It is hot!

cool, this is called development, we south asians should learn from China.

BTW where this city is moving?:P

DEVELOPED?don‘t you regret of using this word?if you are refering to the tall apartment buildings,i should tell you that they are slums of Chinese cities.only looks a little different from India slums.Your slums are plane while ours are 3D.
Do not be discouraged, sometimes 2D are better. At least 2D movie tickets are cheaper than 3D.

Awesome pictures!! Thanks for posting!!

Tianjin is definitely one of the big and crucial city for China. But it is a bets place to live ..I doubt that. I'd select Suzhou or any other smaller city over Tianjin.

Did govt in Tinajin able to solve black ash falling from sky? I was there once and liked the place except black powder accumulating on your car/ clothes/ any thing left under sky

when were you there? 30 years ago?

I was visiting some years ago and took time to smell the roses there. There is Machang dao 马场道 where in the colonial days the foreigners used the street as a horse racing track. I saw in the above pix of what looked like the financial district was still there. There is also a nice place for delicious sea foods in Tianjin!

Now Tianjin is getting more and more 5* and many other hotels. Sheraton which overlooks the river Haihe 海河 is still there. Some 4* hotels like Holiday Inn in downtown, Crystal Palace, situated next to Sheraton is still there. and 5* TEDA Hotel is still there in 开发区 Kaifaqu (Tianjin Economic Develpment Area). When you find there is a growing no of quality hotels, you know the place is booming!

I think this is quantity driven GDP rather than Quality driven GDP. According to some analysts there are about 65 Million empty apartments in China , let alone the shopping malls.
This is the same property boom Ireland experienced before the recession .. I hope China is not going in the same direction or it surely will dent the world economy.
Best of luck lads.

it is true with india, in the 21st century when majority of the people are still suffering from power outage, lack of other very basic facilities, starving ...

where do you get the figure - 65 million? I am sure there are empty apartments bought for speculation but I want to know if your figure is fully substantiated!

Historic buildings at Machangdao remind us of our humuliations during the colonial era which spur us to move on, harder!

The garden and avenue before that building are really beautiful.
I notice the sky is clean and clear and it is real because I see it actually in my daily life.

Re-loaded some pix of Machangdao. See if they work this time contrary to those in post 43:
