I actually have doubt if China can completely annihilate poverty by 2020. it's only 2 months away. it also depends on how you define poverty.

Poverty should be measured in net assets. The West is up to their eyeballs in debt, and are living paycheck to paycheck to pay their debts.

The poor Chinese save their money, and build their future of freedom.

A rich person could be like scrooge and not spend his billions on luxury item and do things the old fashion way. Having a tv does not mean the person is no longer poor, if they bought the tv on credit, this means they are poor. They owe money to somebody for the tv set.

The accumulation of money is wealth and is anti-poverty. Simply borrowing money to go into debt to own rich things is putting the person in greater poverty.

It was just given to 3 Americans for their contribution for " world poverty alleviation".

I know and its freaking stupid. They just tried to give one more iteration of UIS. There is no significant use of their theory. They have alleviated millions out of poverty. Awards should have some weightage about their practicality and usefulness especially in fields such as economics.
