What's new

This photo of a Bangladeshi couple kissing in rain went viral – and got the photographer assaulted

I did that so many times in the same spot. LOL. No issue.

#GreatPic

Your point being? Regardless either I like the girl or not, if we both want to kiss in public what's got to do with what you would do? I am never going to marry anyone, don't see "marriage" as appealing. So should we ban marriage because I personally do not like the idea?

What you do, who you kiss before or after marriage, is your personal matter. One should be able to do it if they want.

There's great lack of Bangladeshis here in this thread. What's with Indians and Pakistanis obsessing over these type of threads anyway? Even the thread is opened by an Indian.

You have some really weird agressive views. I hope you change them.

The picture has become the latest topic of controversy in a country where secular nationalism and Islamism have long battled each other.

Jibon Ahmed

On Monday, a young Bangladeshi photographer, Jibon Ahmed, posted a picture of a couple kissing gently as a monsoon shower hit. The location is Dhaka University and behind the couple seemingly in love, people go about their business. A man checks his phone under an umbrella and a couple of tea vendors remain busy.

Ahmed posted the picture with the caption, “This is a poem of the blessed rains, let love be free.” The photo immediately went viral. Some people appreciated it for the beauty it conveyed, others assigned to it a political sentiment, which is always close at hand in a country where secular Bengali nationalism and Islamism have long battled each other, and bitterly.

Soon, however, the matter jumped from the internet into the real world. Barely hours after he had posted the photo, Ahmed was assaulted by other photographers at Dhaka University. Some reports on social media claim Ahmed has been fired from his job as a photojournalist with a news website.
Girl is quite fair seems not Bangladeshi @Nilgiri

No, you got it all wrong..
This show of affection should be kept private..Will you kiss your wife in front of your parents?
If there is a strong reason to show off affection and love of immense dept in the given situation.
For you if Kiss is something between two lips to make chemistry, then you didnt understood Kiss out of Love.

And do go over the topic and set of discussion, before cherry picking things out of context.

Do you did this in India? If no why? don't you have emotions or you don't have anyone to show affection? Do it and then I will post next day...Gau Rakshak lynched dusky girl / woman for kissing dalit boy

We are strictly against sexualisation of men and women.
Our principled stance in this regard is glaringly evident by our low population density and swaths of uninhabited land all over the country.

Ha ha

Well said....

What is up with these people?!? This is 2018 not 1918. Getting fired? Wow...

Reminds me of my early days hanging out at cheap kabab and coffee joints around Dhaka stealing a few (ahem) 'opportunities', many of them have become moms by now....

People will go boinky boink for making babies - this is Allah's way of propagating the species. Inbuilt human nature.

I believe in Islam initially the attitude towards marital relations was pretty liberal compared to other Abrahamic religions...Islam was very practical and forward looking in this regard and acknowledged the reality of human urges. Yes even compared to today's Western values in terms of divorces and equal opportunity for women....

Only later - conservatism crept in from some societies and their inbuilt cultural taboos.

Kissing in public is a lot of fun. In our days, we were always in lookout when people are not watching and kiss. Girls love it. You wont have that fun behind the door specially the people who sleep with dogs.

I have only one term for these people, low class Sanghi scum in need of some serious thrashing.

Indian law and order is a spineless 'lagaam-less' situation. How can this happen without anyone protecting the innocent?
