This Jet Terrified the west

. . .
Mig 25 foxbat. The jet that could fly fast and that's it. Essentially a modern day F104. Could not turn well, only could fly fast.

Wrong,
it could fly fast, it could fly high, and it could climb fast.

It was designed as an interceptor to western bombers and its a role it did very well.

.
if I remember correctly, for a decade it puzzled USAF, but then they found the wreckage of one these in near sea of Japan

and they reverse engineered it to claim upperhand.

India also flown one of these over Pakistan undetected

. .
That's one hell of a Russian engineering marvel.
Not really, the west just panicked and then found out it had unreliable engines that destroy themselves within 200 hours of flight, poor radar, poor maneuverability, cheap steel body, wings that bent over 6Gs that would cause the jet to flatspin and crash.

The west was afraid of it because they thought it was a fighter. Once they realized all it could do is intercept bombers and would not stand a chance against an F-15 they got relieved.

Thanks once again for proving the myth of jews being intelligent people wrong.
A jet which cannot go beyond 200 hrs of flight somehow still serves the Russian air force after decades

Initial variants had jet engines taken out of cruise missiles. Only later variants had upgraded engines with up to 1000 hours of flight. Which is still very low in western standard.

And that doesn't mean the plane stops existing, the engine needs to be replaced, this is very costly and maintenance heavy.

Fine. Am not Jewish. Am not even white. And I say the MIG-25 was/is a shiddy design and equally shiddy aircraft.

There is no doubt that when the MIG-25 debuted as operational, the Western air forces were understandably concerned. Already, they were numerically inferior but with the MIG-25, whatever technological advantages they had maybe erased. That was the perception and it turned out to be wrong after the defection of Viktor Belenko to the West, JPN to be precise, with his MIG-25. When I was active duty and on the F-16, and before Desert Storm, our squadron had a chance to attend a presentation about the MIG-25. The information contained within where classified as 'Confidential', meaning not secret but should not be disseminated casually.

Theory => Engineering <= Reality

The MIG-25 was impressive more on the engineering side than it is on the tactical side. It was impressive from an engineering perspective because of the lack of high quality materiel for Soviet manufacturing and the builders had to make compromises from what the designers want. The American XB-70 was a test bed of Mach capability that the Soviet designers did not have -- compression lift theory. Basically, the XB-70 would 'surf' on its own shockwaves, from the US all the way to the Soviet Union proper. We are not talking about at the Europe - Soviet border but deep INTO Soviet territory, and the program was making steady technical progress towards that goal. The Soviets had to present a credible counter-threat. So in the end, MIG-25 Designers and Engineers had to agree on what was the most important capability and focus their efforts on that -- speed. What we deduced came from Belenko's testimony on how a MIG-25 squadron would be deployed and from the technical examination of the jet when we had brief possession of it.

The jet's longevity of service does not take away from the fact that it was a limited platform. Finally, do not repeat the myth that the F-15 came from the MIG-25 after we examined it. The North American A-5 Vigilante was the father of both of them.

Ejection seat info is there in the slide on top right, but I don't have the pics of it. I know it was unveiled and has been presented in airshows. In case you have it please post it here. I have this pic though from the testing.

Same for the wheels, please find the pics so we have a new slide

Alright!
I thought you were talking about Mig31. Since both look very similar I though the above video was about Mig31.
What you said might be true about Mig25 but Mig31 is still a scary thing for the west. All the problems of Mig25 we're eradicted when it evolved into Mig31. Mig 31 is still the fastest combat jet in the world and has a service life of about 3500 hrs.

No, we are not 'scared' of the MIG-31. That era is gone. The more maneuverable Su series is more of a threat.

Yeah agree the interceptors era is gone. But still that pose a threat because USAF has no aircraft that can match the speed of Mig31.
And I think maneuverability soon won't matter because with BVR missiles dog fights are becoming less common. So Su series aren't problems it's the Russian and Chinese long range BVRs that pose a real threat.

except didn't serve saddam well . we even hit one with F-5.
IRIB even produced a documentary called "Hunter of the Bat" about the incident and in other times those mig-25 could not face our F-14

Mig-25 theoretically could fly as fast as SR-71 but by doing so the lifespan of the engine would have drastically reduced even at 2.5 mach the lifespan of the engine would have reduced a lot.
