We're not making a good first impression to be honest.
IK's body language was a bit weak yesterday; he seemed frustrated, possibly tired. Couldn't gauge if that was because of Trump/Modi remarks the day earlier. I would like to think that the foreign office did its homework and possibly told IK of the impending issue; but IK didn't have to say anything remotely offensive on the matter. Possibly he wants to hold his anger till the UNGA session.

The next day Mr Trump called himself a "friend" of Pakistan.

He also said Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan was a "great leader", talked about his many Pakistani friends and proceeded to dodge a question about Mr Modi's rhetoric against Pakistan by saying that Iran was actually the "number one state of terror in the world".

Needless to say, this turn of events took a lot of Indian social media by surprise.

A day earlier, buoyed by the success of the shared rally between Mr Modi and Mr Trump in Texas, many had painted the event as yet another victory against Pakistan by India.

Memes showing a disappointed and dejected Imran Khan were widely shared and Twitter pundits called it "another surgical strike" against the country - a reference to India's claim that it launched a covert attack against militants on Pakistani soil.

Following the latest development however, things are very different.

And in Pakistan, social media users heaped praise on Mr Khan while hitting back at Indians. The hashtags #ManOfPeaceImranKhan, #ImranKhanDoctrine and #Imrankhanforpeace were all trending in Pakistan on Tuesday morning.

No we can't but we have get the maximum benefits. There is no trust between countries. Its only alignment of interests. As long as your interests remain aligned you are fine. At this moment our interest are aligned w.r.t. to Afg.

No one is to be trusted on the international stage or in geopolitics. The question comes down to what does Pakistan want from US and how we are defining our interest. US is pretty clear about what it wants from Pakistan.

No one is to be trusted on the international stage or in geopolitics. The question comes down to what does Pakistan want from US and how we are defining our interest. US is pretty clear about what it wants from Pakistan.

US attitude is going to be pretty belligerent in the coming few years. Pakistan shouldn't cosy up with the US for short term results.

Only facebook is necessary to gauge the sentiment of Pakistan. They have more data than they ever need. With the advent of machine learning and AI; we are already on the backfoot.

Imran Khan is wrong. There are multiple "Islam". Because even if the principles are compromised, the interpretations are different. Moreover, it is doubtful that even the principles have been compromised...
