forgive me, but let us look at the big picture... the entire argument of the "callous selfish female" vanishes if we look at the problem being because of capitalism, consumerism, wrong tradition.
the pressure on the male to earn money for the family etc exists because (a). money system exists, (b). even basic utilities in capitalist societies have to be paid for... then there is consumerism where companies project a cell phone as must-have and some fat-free milk brand as "essential"... why is a cell phone necessary at all ( forget the latest ) and why isn't the idea of fat-free foods denounced as stupid??
why blame the female solely when it is also the male who didn't rebel against the capitalist system... a almost-true-communist state like libyan jamahiriya provided basic necessities and even more-than-survival money to the citizen ( male and female )... in later years, consumerism came into the libyan jamahiriya and one of the reasons its citizens were shocked into not resisting immediately.
have you looked at how stupidly today's "young" people ( 12 to 30 ) dress generally... t-shirts worn on the outside, t-shirts with garish logos, stupid haircuts, male one-fourth pants ( cut off below knee ), mini skirts on thin female legs, shorts worn by males as acceptable outside wear, canvas shoes, strange colors like orange, shirts untucked on one side, chains hanging off pants, garish loose jackets inspired by gangsta rappers, hugely loosely male clothes inspired by gangsta rappers, low cut jeans, jeans with balloon backsides but tight otherwise...
add to all that their rude, aggressive and arrogant behavior and language (
especially in indian males ).
yesterday, i was looking at youtube vids of "drunk girls", essentially ladies being stupid or falling off staircases/tables/balconies because of being drunk... i was laughing but also thinking why do they need to do that... when did drinking alcohol become so important... why do these drinking houses ( pubs ) need to exist... it was the english who brought tea into india, yet england ( and britain ) now seems flooded with pubs where people deem it acceptable to funnel down alcohol...
there has been a decades old "rise of the stupids" in many societies, especially especially those which was capitalist, traditional ( esp. south asia ), consumerist.
the commentator of your vid and its subject are troubled and make some good questions, but they have jumped into the details rather than questioning the very basis of their society's politicall system.
also, there is the point whether the traditional marriage has a place in a near-future scientific and true communist society... this is where
@SMC and the lady subject of the op and i seem to agree in various degrees.
what say you,
