There are 51 large groups of pirates currently operating from Somalia..The idea of creating a pirate infested sea zone was originally a commercial idea hatched up by shipping insurance companies such as lloyds.
The pirates are Somali gangsters paid for by consortium of shipping insurance companies..The net result is that the piracy threat gives them a valid reason to sky rocket the insurance premiums.
Ships going to war zones are considered high risk and pay additional premium but there aren't many war zones in the world..Iraq has been there for some time but not many ships go there.
A radical idea was needed, and creating a high risk area for shipping slap bang in the middle of one of the world's busiest shipping route was one hell of an idea.Somalia sits at the mouth of Red sea and all ships crossing the Suez canal have to pass the area..That accounts for more than 70 percent of the worlds shipping traffic.
Now insurance companies are basking in success.Their premiums doubled and in some cases tripled, and as a result ship owners charge more in freight as they have to make profit..This eventually increases the transport cost of pretty much everything. As a result this made up piracy is one of the major contributing factor towards prices of everything.

Its not a conspiracy theory..i have done my research into the matter..If you ask insurance brokers and ship owners they will agree with what i said.

And its not just insurance companies benefiting..There are multinational security companies who have won big contracts for providing armed and non armed security guards to ships at sea..
None of this was possible before the somali piracy came into existence...

Just as I can tell you about the "Man in the Moon"!! :P

Can't buy your argument just like that, you need to give some credible evidence or some logical arguments.

my my my... I was thinking who could been behind them and these insurance companies belong to what countries, would be interesting part to know...

.
very well point out Safriz, like I said the Somalians are just thugs, some powerful mafia is behind them... you just exposed them... now the only thing to know who are the investors of these insurance companies... would solve the mystery...

.
Google keywords "RBS blood oil"
and then there was this report that biggest of the banks have been investing in african civil wars By giving loans to well known warlords snd arms dealers.
if they can invest in blood diamonds....investing in pirates is nothing big.

.
Another conspiracy theory without any evidence.
Probably some shipping company guy came up with this.

An Insurance company guy will come up with: Shipowners with old ships and low value cargo want their ships to be hijacked so that they can get full insurance amount. So shipowners are funding the piracy.
