The rivalry between the Afghan government and the Taliban has been on full display during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the two sides are locked in an unofficial competition over who has the better health policy, The Washington Post reports. And so far, the Taliban appears to be winning out.

Esmatullah Asim, a provincial council member from Wardak province, told the Post the Taliban has been more effective in dealing with travelers crossing the border from Iran, which has experienced the worst COVID-19 outbreak in the region. The Taliban quarantines everyone who passes through, he said, while the government only quarantines those showing symptoms at the border.

"The Taliban quarantine is much better than the government," said Asim. "They stop the vehicles, telling passengers how to prevent the spread of the virus."

The U.S. State Department has also acknowledged the Taliban has done an effective job handling the pandemic.

The Taliban has additionally dispatched health teams to deliver gloves, soaps, and masks to people in areas under its control in Afghanistan. But despite all that, they haven't ceased their attacks during the pandemic, blaming Kabul for forcing their hand. Kabul regime is no longer the golden cow it was for the Obama administration. The USA is playing both sides now. They would have saved themselves a lot of problems if they just kept the war in Afghanistan limited to focus on Al Qaeda.

Pakistan government and Taliban suggestions for international televised trial for Osama was not acceptable to the US, instead they just launched missiles into Afghanistan with Iranian provided coordinates and threatened Pakistan to stay out.

The push for war was strong for the US, it opened up further destabilization in the Muslim world, which was catching up to the West.

Dies not stop them abusing each other vilely in from of us. But they funnily accept our neutrality and do not grudge us for it.

I think they instinctively know we are there to help and not interfere.

So my joke.

Whenever there is an impending attack, one grizzled Johnny will sidle up conspiration ally and soto voce mumble in Afghani Hindi "Daatar saab aaj market mein mat jaana"

And two hours later there will be a huge blast.

So when you hear of Indians getting killed in blasts or attacks in Afghanistan take it on a stamp paper that our brothers next door have been active.
