The Stealth In India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft

When did RAAD be modified to an A2A BVR missile? :disagree:
The best BVR missile that PAF has at the moment, is AIM 120C for the new F16 b52s, with a range similar to our R77. The difference is, that PAF has only a hand full of these F16s now, IAF instead has close to 300 fighters able to use R77.
Now please stop these baseless comparisons and back to topic!

Agreed, we really lack in the BVR dept, and it is to neutralize that advantage that we are getting 45 of our F-16As upgraded, the details of the upgrade package are unknown but from what I hear it will include night time operation capability, better avionics and BVR capability, so we'll have to see. JF-17 is also designed for BVR but before we talk about taking MKIs down with it, we need a better radar/avionics package.

P.S: India's MKIs and Mig-29s can engage in BVR combat, are there any other aircraft that also posses this capability ?

Mig21 - Bison should also be on that list....

I have a query. Even though I am not aware of aeronautics, could someone here tell me why the wings are so short and the fuel tanks so small? This would severely hamper the fighter's range and considering your geography, you will need fighters that are capable of an average of at least 4,000-5,000 Km combat range.

Dude, there are VERY few fighters in the world with 4000-5000 km range. If a plane has to fly further and have a long rannge, it has to have extended, stretched out wings (think of a glider). This gives it more lift, but also makes it slower and less maneuverable. A fast plane like a fighter typically has relatively smaller wings and typically is swept back somewhat. this gives it greater speed and maneuverability.

If thats what they r trying to make, lets go sleep for next 30 yrs

btw, besides nuclear plants, what did u ppl sell to US for this varient of JSF and its CAD drawings

Like deckingraj said, around 100 Mig 21 bisions can use R77 too.

Wat about the mirages, they can fire MICA AAM ? Isn't Mica BVR?

Yes after the upgrade, the Mirage 2000s will be BVR capable too.

That's exactly why we will go for FGFA with a range of around 5000Km, which will be the main stealth fighter anyway and similar in roles to Su 30 MKIs.
Another stealth aircraft, be it a fighter, or even better a UCAV is only needed to add different capabilities, other roles, or cost-effectivity.

I'm not sure, I know for a fact India's Mirages are primarily reserved for accurately delivering A2G munitions. They aren't sent into combat alone, India's standard strike package would consist of a Mirage with about 4 bisons flying escort.

I feel that the AMCA will augment India's fleet of FGFA just like JSF is meant to augment F-22's.

In an aggressive scenario the PAK-FA's will lead the strike and clear the way for AMCA, which will then be followed by MRCA/Mirage 2000-5/Jaguars/MKI's.

MKIs are air superiority fighters, I believe they will be the first to enter combat.............

Mig21 - Bison should also be on that list....

List of BVR capable aircrafts in IAF inventory.

Mig 21 - Bi's ..They can carry couple of BVR's.
Mirage - Will be carrying BVR's after upgrade.
Sea Harriers - BVR capable..although the number of harriers left is too small.
Mig 29 ,
SU 30 MKI
