The sad history of International Mother Tongue Day

Did he not mention why??? or just gave the statement... If separation would be the issue from the beginning bd would not join pakistan... but some pakistani leader tried to show superiority over the bengalis... even in one incidence it shows disrespect while discussing about the budget pakistani leader allocated budget to renovate toilet of pakistani leader but when 1 bengali leader asked where there are such budget for east pakistan he said you better use banana's skin...

just go through european history , how brutally they killed each other but know they are like one unit.
but for that they stopped blaming each other......
soon after bloody world war 2 , they were all together ..... why can,t we ...

.
by blaming each other there is no gain ,,,,,
reality is we were out played by some external forces due to our internal negligence and in end it resulted in taboo on our history.
but lets forget that painful past that caused equal pain to PAKISTANIES too because of death and pow of a huge no of SOLDIERS and civilians ..... and even more than that loss of a part ....
so just forget that painful past and look for bright future of both nations.
we are different linguistically but we are in the end one nation ....... MUSLIM nation.. leave past to ALLAH PAK who knows better than any ... lets look forward for brotherly relations...

But this issue has become day to day politics of bd and india's claiming of vitory propaganda and claiming such that without india there would be no bd... this is utter disgusting...

.
i and we all PAKISTANIES still love our bangali brothers and have no ill feelings for them , we all cheer victory of your team in any much like ours and feel happy on your progress .....
best wishes keep smiling ..
umee to Maake bhale bashi.....
thats what i learned from my bangali class fellows ....:victory::victory:

I personally do not think bd people has much bad intention with ordinary pakistani people ... even pakistani cricket team is supported by majority of the bangladeshi during India pakistan match and expect them to win... so yes we can act as one country... but I personally think that indonesia, bangladesh, pakistan, iran, turkey and egypt these 6 country should act together and could be a super power if we work altogether and try to help in regards to each others benefit... as these 6 country represent around 80 million or more people ... almost double then EU.

or other such related interests .....

Mother Tongue - oh what a farce. Who really thinks we decide what our zabaane maadari will be...I could've been born a Zulu, would I have attached the same attention to the language that is my present mother tongue?

I believe humans should look for the best language according to linguistic criteria rather than carrying forward the cultural luggage of their intellectual backwardness.

.
lol ... yes... slight mistake ... bhalo bashi instead of bhale bashi... :)

ooops ..... thanks for correction , there was a song too like that i used to listen and its video was very nice....

Go n ask the british to accept mendarin .... as china is going to be the biggest economy of the world and see what reaction you will get.... With mother tongue each and every ones culture is associated... may be this is not the case with pakistan as urdu is the national language which is a british creation.... but bengali language has a very long history and now is the worlds 7th largest language... and was the largest spoken language of pakisan with more then 50% of its people.

Do Bangladeshis realize that Urdu as well as Farsi WERE their own languages (among the aristocracy at least) before the British arrived in S. Asia, and degraded the official status of these languages in the Bengal at the expense of Bangla? If you are cognizant of your history, you might wish to reinstate the status of the two former national languages, if only as a token gesture.

english were the rulling class language but did we make it the main official language ??? no...same also goes to india... pakian could make both urdu and bengali as the official language as bengali was spoken by more then 50% of the people of pakisn... so there were no reason to show disrespact to them... or their culture.... n this urdu will be the only official language was proposed by liakot ali khan as his mother language was urdu...

I do like Urdu and think it's beautiful language, even if it has been painted in religious colour(along with Hindi) after partition of sub-continent. However you inquiring the cognizance of our(you mentioned Bangladeshis but Bangladesh wasn't an entity back in the era you're referring at) history should be responded.

Farsi was spoken by the rulers during Mughal era, Hindustani language which later evolved as Urdu and Hindi was spoken by common people, mughal infantry etc and was mainly limited to what is now Northern India. Urdu has nothing to do with Farsi except for large number of loan words. Urdu + Hindi evolved from Sauraseni Prakrit.

Bengali is the direct decedent of Magadhi Prakrit which was spoken at Mouryan and Nanda court, edicts of Ashoka were composed of it. The language has rather rich literary heritage which is difficult for a non-Bengali to gauge.

Also like to add, Urdu is a north Indian language by origin and is not native to both East and West Pakistan.
