We are fortunate we have a thriving film industry with some excellent technicians and movie makers. Films across various languages played a major role in promoting nationalism and unity among us Indians.

It is more like films for opportunity (milking public sentiment), rising extremism (instead nationalism), war mongering, spreading fear/creating boogeyman (Pak, China), etc

Communist propaganda used to make enemy no less than devil while parsing itself. Tell me what do you get out of it as Pak isn't a threat. It will make you unable to make friends with Pak, that means say bye bye to Central Asia. India is self isolating itself.

So much hatred and fear can make you afraid of petty things like lizard. Also, public can't question government as it could be taken as sedition.

Oohhh k. I don't even know when to begin on this one.

Why do Indians always think Bollywood is better than Chinese films?

The total box office of global film history ranks among the top 100, with 3 films in China, which is the best country except Hollywood. How many are there in Bollywood? None!

China has 20 films with a box office of more than 2 billion CNY (22.67 billion INR). How many are there in Bollywood? None!

Nationalism and other forms of extremism destroy independent critical thought. It is a double edged sword. North Korea is the best example of nationalism in today's world. It has the idea that everyone should be exactly on the same page or they are a threat to society [which is a crime against humanity]. People there can't even trust their friends and family with independent critical thought as it is considered dangerous and hostile. Loyalty to the state and leader is supreme.
