The reason why Philippines decided to buy the "Karmota Class" frigate of India

.
.
I am actually impressed with the indigenous content in this ship.

The hull, search radar and sonar are all indigenous.

It is misleading to say that it is 90% indigenous but not bad going India with this ship.

India should strive to maybe add it's own fire-control and SAMs for the next in the class as it strives towards
100& self-sufficiency.
The Kamorta will have the Maitri SAM added (a JV project between DRDO and MBDA). Addtionally, if so requested, export customers can ask for teh BARAK-8 which is a JV between DRDO and IAI.

You can't , your industries is weak. The local production is BS. I can sure many components of oto melera 76mm gun and many sub system core parts are imported and then just an assemble job by Indians. ToT is just a loose term.

Local industry is weak, but the composite armor of the T90 and barrel, which was denied from Russia is being produced by India. You even read your source wrong, it's not 40% indigenous content, but only met 40% of the production goal. Way back in 09 70% of the T90S was localized.

Right now, the tanks have 70 per cent indigenous content, which is expected to go up to 85 per cent. “The economies of scale do not permit us to manufacture the remaining 15 per cent,” said S. Chandrasekar, Director-General, Heavy Vehicles Group.

It's even more now.

What is there to see? Italian main gun, French diesel engine, Russian Anti-submarine system. Italian helo and Russian CIWS.. Only the hull is Indian.

CIWS, main gun, anti submarine system are localized in India. The main radar, Indian. FCS for CIWS and main gun, localized. Sonar Indian. What Italian helo?

Are you using 'Logic' to counter Chinese trolls?

LOL at the moron bringing T-90 in a frigate thread. Desperation knows no bounds.:lol::lol:

So, any conformation by Philippines Navy? Even if not selected, I'd be interested in Kamorta's performance when compared to the frigates from established shipbuilders as judged by PN.

Kamorta was the most expensive one so let's see if Kamorta had technological merit and whether political and financial constraints had any bearing on the decision made.

Greetings! New guy here!

There have been rumblings the last couple of days on Philippine defense forums with regards to this project being awarded to GRSE based on a recent article quoting a GRSE chairman. A big reason for me and a lot of others to be skeptical about this is that this news seems to be about a month late. It was expected that if GRSE actually bagged this project it would have been awarded weeks ago before a PN team was sent to Korea for post qualification. According to various sources, PQ has just finished in Korea and we expect to hear news before the end of the month. Technically GRSE is still not out of it as long as they actually fix whatever financial issues they have and that they file a motion for reconsideration to the PN.

PS. Manila livewire is NOT a reliable source of info.

Check the facts then come and talk. lol other then engine , everything is build in India...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamorta-class_corvette

this IN , which is far more uses Indian content. we are not like Chinese , ASK Russian company to design chopper and then tell the world " Chinese engg design chopper"
90%? For a country that can't even make a decent rifle. Funny how you can make so many things, but yet can't make a complete tank? Tanks are simple systems, that's what most countries master first. License production means screwdriver and sticker tech. Do you understand? Are you guys really so naive? Pathetic. Can you tell me where the engines are made in?

Lol what it has to do with rifle and tanks? If that's the yard stick India went to Mars in. First stroke what China did with Mars mission that too in partnership with Russia who helped you all the way? Complete nose cut failure. And topic here is about Navy platform... Which is 90% indigenous. It's really funny Chinese try to mock India when you urself secretly beg Russians to design and build even an attack chopper and frigates and claim it as ur creation u till Russian finally exposed you at global stage. By the way these both platform are made in India indigenously and one in particular hold world record for capabilities to fly heightest mountain with decent amount of payload. All China can do is to follow the tails. What India can do is to succeed with delay but on its own.

Kamorta is a corvette. But they are offered as a Frigate to the Phillipines navy. Frigates for India are much heavier touching 6000 tones like the Shivalik, of course the Talwars are nearly 3000 plus tonnes.

India's Kamorta ships in Phillipines Navy will roar at South China Sea in front of their submarines and on the other hand their ships will face black future from BrahMos from Vietnamese side. Everywhere at South China Sea.

Capabilities of our frigates and destroyers are far more superior to the Chinese. In layman's term

China has to get 160 km closer to get a lock of Indian frigates or destroyers

India can lock and launch missiles at Chinese warships far away from 300 km.

"THE "KAMORTA" IS NOT UNDER-ARMED, BUT OVER-SIZED."

Could anyone tell me what the difference is?

For its role (ASW corvette) it is adequately armed but as a corvette it is "over sized" in the sense usually corvettes are <1000 tons-2000 tons but the Kamorta is >3000 tons. This "over sizing" is because the Kamorta class are meant to operate independantly and as part of a CBG so need to have high endurance and be self contained.

Mars? The Mars probe is the same as Chandrayaan-1 platform, the rocket delivered was a PSLV, do we want to talk more about this? Both platforms are third grade tech compared to current Chinese capabilities.

The key technology was the deep space tracking, PROVIDED BY NASA. :yahoo: Mars had always been a secondary objective for China, the moon was the first. That's why it was a piggyback on Russian mission in 2011. The Indians failed in their moon mission and needed an ego boost, so they took the risk and launch Mangalyaan. Get it? If you take away the American from the equation, you are nothing. :cheesy:

Yes, building rifles and tanks is the most basic yardstick, if you can't even do that, most likely the other effort are screwdriver and sticker tech. We copy Russian frigates and attack helo? I don't think we just copy? WE COPY, BEG, BORROW, STEAL, ABSORB, INNOVATE, DEVELOP any countries technology, not just the Russians.
