That's your opinion.. while china may have heavier launchers ... it does not mean all other launchers are "third grade." The needle and the sword have their own places.Mars? The Mars probe is the same as Chandrayaan-1 platform, the rocket delivered was a PSLV, do we want to talk more about this? Both platforms are third grade tech compared to current Chinese capabilities.
PS: Chandrayaan and PSLV are our own designs.
Wow. the DSN is like using international roaming .. it just relay the signals .. Why should india spend all the money to set up stations around the world(due to rotation of the earth) when our key objective is increasing our satellite launch capability? Interplanetary missions are far and few. As far as the tech to make these stations, we have them in India and soon in Vietnam. That is definitely not a "key" technology .. just relay stations and antennas. The key technology was the deep space tracking, PROVIDED BY NASA.

ok... now china want to launch a Mars mission. Let me see if China uses DSN or if they increase their own station count.Mars had always been a secondary objective for China, the moon was the first. That's why it was a piggyback on Russian mission in 2011. The Indians failed in their moon mission and needed an ego boost, so they took the risk and launch Mangalyaan. Get it? If you take away the American from the equation, you are nothing.
Cool. And others choose not to do that?Yes, building rifles and tanks is the most basic yardstick, if you can't even do that, most likely the other effort are screwdriver and sticker tech. We copy Russian frigates and attack helo? I don't think we just copy? WE COPY, BEG, BORROW, STEAL, ABSORB, INNOVATE, DEVELOP any countries technology, not just the Russians.
