The Limited Military Utility of Pakistan’s "Battlefield Use" of Nuclear Weapons

Any sort of riddle or suspense was unintended, it was a simple open question. For example, Pakistan has a small number of nuclear weapons (relatively), and no SSBNs or vast land areas to hide them during a conflict. Every other land-based nuclear delivery system is too large and easily detectable, so Nasr provides more flexible options.

Such a serious reply ? :(

Pakistan has a large conventional army for good reason i.e. to fight another larger conventional army. The whole concept of "tactical nukes" was ditched years ago by NATO (yes they had a qualitative advantage.) Any such use of nukes would bring us into a nuclear war with India, and then hell on earth.

production of small nukes continues in Pakistan, despite this storm of propaganda. So the nuclear men of Pakistan must be on to something.

@OrionHunter before you bold more of your posts to prove your point, consider this:
What if the term "battlefield" is being taken in the wrong context for Nasr? You really think that Pakistan's nuclear decision makers didn't (or couldn't) take into account the uselessness of such a weapon against armored IBGs, and sanctioned possibly millions of dollars for such a program?
Just think about it, what else can be targeted by such a low-yield and short-ranged weapon besides an IBG?

And if the use of something as small as Nasr (relatively) can escalate into a full-blown nuclear war, won't it fulfill its purpose of achieving deterrence and stop the possibility of even a brief conventional conflict?

just want to add that most of Indian thinks Nasar is the only 'Batel Field Missile' Pakistan have in its arsenal ....

One thing is also very important is what kind of Nuclear Weapons Pakistan have specially for TNS? Did Pakistan have Thermonuclear weapon or neutron device for TNS??

In any future conventional war Pakistan now have many conventional options which will help us to defend our territory and Ra'ad, CM-400-AKG's are few to name them.
are you kidding? ?? again CM 400 ??? it must be fuel efficient with better milage ... so it travels 180+ km @ mach 4 with just 400kg weight which includes fuel ,150kg payload , etc... and it sunks carrier because of Kinetic energy .... i forgot when the awacs help jf 17 to track Indian CBG .... don't you think Indian Awacs will detect jf 17 when it airborne ..don't talk lower rcs... with ASHM jf 17 rcs will go up... neither Indian CBG don't need to come close to karachi port... blockade can be done at safe distance...

Sorry maybe I am missing something, but why is this article assuming that Pak will use nukes against India on its own soil?
If PA is in such desperate situation ever that they have to use nuclear weapons, why won't they use them on Indian soil if even IA has managed to penetrate some part of Pakistan?

How will that work out? With a stockpile of ready to use nuclear weapons, how will air attacks on nuclear facilities help India?
Stealth Fighters will easily take out Nuclear facilities.Thats why PAC Is working on J-2X and JF-17 Thunder Block III.:coffee:

is that possible to have a no war pact with india?
Impossible Because we have some Issues with India. :sniper:

An interesting fact which most of the poster are ignoring that its not the system, but the application and the strategy of its usage which draw favorable or unfavorable results.

Just as example 'Little Boy' the nuclear bomb which was exploded over Hiroshima generated the yield around 15 KT.

Please read these links before talking big and PAF is a professional air force they know how to use these weapons to full extent to inflict maximum damage to the enemy.

i came through those links...

This what you forgot reading.

Quote:

AVIC lists the 0.4m-diameter missile as having a range of between 54-130nm (100-240km), while carrying either a 150kg blast warhead or 200kg penetration warhead.

A list of system features appears to confirm an unusual characteristic associated with the CM-400. Unlike most high-speed cruise missiles, which fly at low altitude to avoid detection, the CM-400 uses “high [altitude] launching” to achieve “higher aircraft survivability”, according to the video.

A fighter such as the Chengdu/Pakistan Aeronautical Complex JF-17 would launch the missile at speeds between Mach 0.7 and M0.9 at an elevation between 26,200ft and 39,400ft, according to the AVIC specifications.

240km???? total weight 400kg.. out of it 150kg to 200kg for the payload. .. do you think missile will travel 240km at mach 4 with just 200kg fuel????

lol carrier killer....

Still you don't get it don't you. :-)

It will be a lethal weapon against IN but one must not forget that it also reduce response time of PAF against static inland targets in India, as it gives them capability to strike from safe distance with rapid speed.
