Our people and your people fought them in Burma and fought as well as them. The fearless kamikazes!!!
Ostensibly most of the kamikaze pilots were volunteers, and when they died their family received an amount close $120 today, back in those days it must 've been a huge amount.
Similar to kamikaze there were kaitens, which were suicidal torpedoes.
In my opinion, Japanese soldiers come close to Rajputs who put honour before anything else and preferred killing themselves rather than getting captured.

Thanks for the tag.
Niazi and Manekshaw together.... Both got gallantry awards.anyways, that will be off topic.
The original suicide ritual of Samurai was sekeppu in which, one disembowelled himself to avoid capture or in shame or defeat. This some what changed in WW2.
I suggest watching Clint Eastwood's hit "Letters from Iwo Jima" with english subtitles. Not that much action but one gets the idea of what the final months of the war were like for ordinary Japanese soldiers and for their visionary Maj General.
