Oman shouldn't have been included. They're quite pro Iranian. Whenever a Western or Arab country wants to mediate with Iran they always choose Oman.
Oman is an important member of the GCC who supported and supports the status quo in Bahrain. No GCC monarchy has any interest in seeing unrest in any GCC country which is not only the richest area of the Muslim world, biggest economic bloc (by far) but also arguably the most peaceful region of the Muslim world with the lowest crime rates etc.
The focus for the GCC is economic, infrastructural, social, educational etc. progress and concrete steps are taken each day to reach those objectives.
Also it's the current childless and almost 75 year old Omani Sultan that has chosen a neutral policy towards Iran. He won't remain neutral if the integrity of the GCC will be threatened by Iran or if they are foolish enough to attack any GCC member state or other Arab counties.
In any case the GCC puts great emphasis on business and trade hence why the biggest trading partner of Iran is nearby UAE while otherwise those two countries are rivals. Over 1/3 of all Iranian imports originate from the UAE.
It is no secret that most GCC leaders are pragmatic and that's hardly a bad virtue.
Business is business. Politics and rivalries another thing altogether.
