What's new

The first 6 Rafale for Hellenic Air Force arrived in Tanagra Air Base, Greece

If you use s400 USA will provide Greece with F 35.

USA said no Eastmed project

Turkey and İsrael to work together

Greece has also a lot of missiles (scalp, Patrio, tor m1 etc)

Will you use all your equipment (900 missiles) on Greece??? And your eastern borders will be defendless towards Kourdistan, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Armenia ???

On the other hand Greece can use all its power against Turkey (no other front to mind)

No problem
Turkey has its own defense Industry to produce thousands of TRG-300 , TRLG-230 , J600T , BORA , MRASHM , AKBABA , KUZGUN-TJ , SOM , ATMACA Missiles also HISAR and soon SIPER Air Defense Missiles

also thousands of 110-150 km KGK , KUZGUN-SS , SDB , KGK-LR guided Bombs

also BOZDOGAN , GOKDOGAN , GOKHAN air to air Missiles
and 1.000 km KARGI anti-radiation Drones

but Greece can not produce any SCALP , PATRIOT , TOR M1
only 24 hours .. and no more Greek PATRIOT , TOR M1 , etc

Turkey-İsrael produce Missiles .. but Greece-Egypt buys Missiles with limited numbers

only one example
Greece has only 90 SCALP air launched Cruise Missiles
and Turkey produce more 415 SOM air launched Cruise Missiles ... Turkey has also 95 POPEYE and 50 SLAM-ER air launched Cruise Missiles

Even I am not talking about other Missiles such as TRLG-230 , TRG-300 , J600T , BORA , ATMACA
and upcoming MRASHM , KGK-LR , SDB , KUZGUN-TJ , AKBABA , GEZGIN

Greeks already operate f-16s, but have still ordered Rafales to improve their airforce, this speaks volumes about the capabilities of French Rafale jets.
But the S400 will be a tough nut to crack, good purchases by both Turkey and Greece

.

HURJET

About 84 F-16s will be upgraded to F-16V.

The Air Force also wants a squadron of a new type of aircraft. Some say it will be the F-35.

Just wait till turkey gets those F35s

Oh wait

. .
What if Greece get F35, how Turkey is gonna counter it?

Turkish Ballistic and Cruise Missiles to hit all Jet Hangars in Greece and Greek Islands
real question , how Greece is gonna counter Turkish missile power ?

Turkey develops MIUS unmanned stealth Fighter Jet by 2025
also MMU 5th gen stealth Fighter Jet by 2029

btw F-35 is not invisible
Turkish PARS Passive Radar System project which will detect low-visibility Fighter Jets like F-35

This kind of armament effort will cause TR to increase its defense budget from 1.5% to 2.5 maybe 3 levels. Currently, Turkiye is one of the country that spends the least money on armament in the region in terms of GDP. If it rises to the level of other countries, you can forget about the armament responses seen so far. Much bigger things could came in to agenda. Very little of Turkiye's current defense budget is spent on the acquisition of weapon systems. The majority are professional army and security operations related expenses. for example, if Turkiye creates an additional budget of 4-6 billion annually for modernizations( this can be achieved by reducing the budget of the Directorate of Religious Affairs by half, easilly, for example); The worst-case scenario for Greece could emerges.

The US's traditional move to keep the balance in the region. If disrupt the traditional 7/10 balance(even this balance was favor of Greece), will shake the future of NATO in terms of regional results.

The consequences of this will not be good for the region. With this way, the USA would willingly pave the way for Turkiye to develop strategic cooperation with the rivals of the USA.

On the other hand, Greece is currently the country that spends the most money per capita on armament in the region. If they drives this paranoia, I'm afraid they will have to be the country that spends the most money on armaments per capita in the world. Turkiye's only problem is not the geopolitical issues with Greece. There are too many factors that threaten border security, national interests. If Greece follows an armament policy that can meet all of TR's military capabilities with its current industrial capability, economy and population, the result will be absolute bankruptcy.

And what should we do? Stop trying to upgrade our army while your government demands that we demilitarize our islands, claims that some of the islands should be given to Turkey, provokes in the Aegean and demands that the Greek Cypriots don't drill in their EEZ?

Right now,you guys should worry about your economy.

Besides,if you say that we are nothing compared to you militarily, why are you saying this will cause Turkey to increase the defense budget?

Turkish republic does not have a special demand from Greece. Turkiye expects you to stick to the agreements that Greece also signed. You must stick to each clause in the Treaty of Lausanne that provides for the 'official' transfer of the Islands to Greece. By violating the agreement, you are preparing an opportunity for Turkiye to declare a 'casus belli'.

I never said Greece is nothing. I say that Greece is not the only factor affecting Turkiye's armament strategy. I know very well that you deliberately manipulated the nuance in between. If Greece tries to take steps to disrupt the traditional balance between the two countries, they will certainly find answers. The problem is that we will feel the effects of these steps less, you will feel them more.

Compared to the 70s, 80s and 90s, the Turkish economy is still incomparably better. In addition, our military defense industry capabilities are deeper than ever before. We now have a cost + need-oriented design advantage when responding to our competitor's acquired weapon systems. Several times the size of the economy, several times the population, a few times the large production capacity: But when it comes to military system acquisitions, lower operational expenses, lower initial costs of acquisition. In other words, the cost of a rapid arms race for Greece will be felt in a logarithmic increment, not linear.

I am not criticizing the armament of Greece here. It's up to Greece to have act with Macron's vision, and I can only wish luck to my Greek friends. I'm just sharing my thoughts on the consequences it will create. I'm just sharing my thoughts on the consequences it will create.

Everything is legal. Turkey has a casus belli for everything. Whatever we want to do,you say "casus belli".

There is no balance between us now. For the last 10-15 years you're military has become way bigger and stronger. And way modern in some aspects.

You guys have been arming like crazy and when we try to upgrade our army,Akar keeps nagging about it.

HULUSI AKAR ( Turkey’s Minister of National Defense ) on jan 8 , 2022

Hulusi Akar rebuked Greece for increasing armament expenditures
There is armament, against whom ? what is this armament for ?
Too much for normal defense, too little for Turkey
