Because peaceful settlement with India means the importance of the army diminishes in pakistan.

What solution do you think is acceptable to Pakistanis. None that will ever be on offer.

You can doubt his stance if it is in some concurrence with the military..but the same is true for the other 3 parties too - zardari, altaf and imran khan have all desired the same.

Doesn't matter. Both the PPP government & the PML government of NS have taken a much more hard line position on Kashmir than Musharraf had come to accept. They have publicly repudiated Musharraf's proposals as has the army privately. So much for the wanting of peace.

I guess they feel that unless there is a settlement with India and an acceptable settlement of Kashmir happens - the army will remain dominant.

Cannot happen. Their asking price is something that will never be offered to them.

But if an Indian calls your PM a lame duck (Which is not derogatory but a commonly used word to describe a person who who lacks leadership) then that is not allowed?

Written by someone who wants to capture western audience through cliched statements.

If civilian govt has credibility and honesty, it will not let military creep into situations which are rightly in civilian domain. Take the ample of Karachi law and order. If civilian govt was honest and willing, military did not need to step in.
