The Effects Of Nationalism On Humanity

Nationalism is defined as a, “feeling that people have of being proud of their country and is often accompanied by the belief that it is better or more important than other countries.”
Every ideology is prone to abuse.Just like there is a difference between islam and islamists nationalism too has different versions.
To me nationalism means national interests ,its not defined on the basis of religion ,cast and creed everyone who shares the same ideology is welcome in the club. And to achieve those interests ethics and moral values does apply.Progress,be better but not by causing harm to someone else.Nationalism is part of human nature from the very first day of stone age till today humans need groups to survive. In ancient times those groups were called tribes today we call them nations.

Oh look...a Sickular Nazionalist

. .
Why should Nationalists in Turkey care what foreigners feel for M.K.Ataturk? I certainly don't.
Muslims are villains to themselves. Look at the ME. all killing each other for what exactly? To make the west happy?

Turkey is part of the ME you idiot.

And it's rich you as a Turk are talking about making the West happy.

Islam isn't compatible with reality.

Oh you must be another one of those coconut murtads.

I know what a murtad is...I did not get the coconut reference.

Coconut is a metaphor. Think about what colour the coconut is inside and out.

Says who?

You Muslims kill each other to make the west happy. Not Turks.

Says pretty much everyone.

LOL look at you Mr Turk. You do realise most Turkish people have predominantly non Turkish heritage, right? Did you ever stop and think why you look so different to central asian Turks?

Anyway Turks have fought with each other frequently throughout history, such as Tamerlane's wars against the Ottoman empire, the Seljuq-Ghaznavid war, etc.

@Homura Akemi , though your thread may seem odd on such a forum which promotes nationalism and militarism but your chosen topic is what everyone should be talking about. I am a socialist who desires a communist humanity - where all governments have fallen, militaries have been disbanded, and people rule themselves.

The last underlined part was present in the former Libyan Jamahiriya ( through direct-democracy ) until NATO brought "democracy" to it.

May I add that if "communism" should ominous, all "communist" and "socialist" societies until now have been living experiments, with some happy with their current state and some desiring the terminal state called "communism".

Edit : The Indian Nobel Prize winner, Rabindranath Tagore, spoke against Nationalism.

In all honesty I’m more humanist than a nationalist.

As any intelligent and empathetic person should be.

Back to topic yeah? No one cares pal. honestly.

. . .
we can discuss it, but would be wrong of us to derail @Homura Akemi 's thread.

Like I said, I don't think we're in ME. Just like some parts of our country being in Europe doesn't make us European.

Fair point. You can open up a new one if you wish.

You are considered as part of the Middle East, your personal opinion is irrelevant.

.
Why do you guys have to bring religion into everything. Just chill. Seriously

.
Nationalism is grossly misunderstood and misrepresented.

Misrepresented??

If anything it is overdone in today's world where Internationalism is no longer present as much as it was before the 90's ( from all accounts ).

Nationalist Turks feel the same way as I do. And Muslims :)
