Sekih , who are not hindus , living as Minorities in India , they had a desire to preserve their entity and be independent.

The Seikh Movement for Khalistan and desire for Independent state came to conclusion with operation Blue Star

Indra Gandhi , did not even decided to inform the Seikh counter parts in Military , it was a clear attack against the Sikh community.

Various entities had been forcing Seikh members to disown Punjabi language and adapt Hindi, same level of "INTOLERANCE" now common against Muslims in India

Eventually , the attack left a deep mark on the foundations of Seikh culture

Hindu's forces taking remembrance picture of their achievement, i mean what kind of moron takes a picture infront of another religion's destroyed temple , he wanted to make sure he took picture to hang it up on his office wall

It started a nation wide abuse against the Seikh member of Indian society

Eventually the Seikh in India forces took out Indira Gandhi the lady who abused Sekih rights

All the peaceful folks wanted was their state be given independent state authorization so they can promote their own culture

I don't know ... buddy that the movement is dead if anything there are more definitive borders defined on the map now and I fully sympathies with these cultured people who just want to have their own separate state

Hindus don't speak Punjabi , so why they want to keep hold on to Punjab

Aparently the Seikh were targetted even in 1978 '

On Vaisakhi 1978, 13 Sikhs were martyred by the heretical Narkdhari (Nirankari) cult. A Jatha of Singhs had peacefully marched to protest the cult’s repeated insult of Sikh Gurus and faith. The Jatha were fired upon by the Narkdhari Militia who were aided by the Indian Police. The Shaheeds gave their lives but rekindled the Sikh spirit.

On September 26, 1978, another Jatha of peaceful Sikh demonstrators were fired upon by the Narakdhari cult, this time in the city of Kanpur.

The Seikh have made a simple request , we are a different people , then Hindus and as such we need to have a separate identity and we should not be forced to sign on papers identifying ourselves as Hindus because we do not share anything with hindus. They had also requested their own land , and state becasue they desired a place of their own

In 1950, despite protests by Sikhs, the Indian constitution was adopted, which failes to even recognize the Sikhs as a separate religion or “quam,” instead Sikhs were categorised as Hindus, and remained defined as such under Article 25 of the Constitution. The British recognised Sikh marriages under the Anand Karaj Act 1909, however this was replaced by the Hindu Marriage Act 1951. Sikh marriages are no longer recognized. To get a marriage license in “secular India”, Sikhs have to sign a form entitled “The Hindu Marriage Act of 1951”
