The Bengal Tiger roars into Olympic final

I dont think she would had stayed anyways. Her mom is a Russian gymnast and her trainer. It was probably her daddy's insistence she represented BD. I dont see any other reason.
she can still represent bd and get trained in russia... many atheletes do that..

. . .
Well, Apparently Her father wanted her to take part in the Olympic as a Bangladeshi. But Bangladesh olympic association didn't show any interest to host a Gymnast. So she opted for Russia.
how did she represent bd as junior? she was hosted by bd olympic association, right?

Margarita Mamun of Russia competes using the hoop Reuters

Russian-Bengali gymnast Margarita Mamun is on the edge of world champion to top rhythmic gymnastic qualification round
A total of 26 rhythmic gymnasts were narrowed down to 10 after the first day of individual competition at the Rio Olympics. And surprisingly Russian-Bengali gymnast Margarita Mamun took the top spot with her scintillating display on the field.

Margarita, also known as The Bengal Tiger, scored 74.383 points after four rotations and will be favourite when she will take the field for the final in the midnight (Bangladesh Time) today. Mamun briefly competed for Bangladesh but returned to representing of Russia as a senior.

In the preliminary session, every gymnast who qualified for the Olympics performed four routines, one each using the ball, hoop, ribbon and clubs apparatus. The athletes with the top 10 combined scores will advance to tomorrow morning’s final, where they will again perform four routines in pursuit of Olympic medals.

Current world champion Yana Kudryavtseva arrived in Rio as the reigning and three-time world all-around champion. She’ maintaining her spot at the top of the sport since 2013, when at 15 years old she became the youngest ever all-around world champion.

In the second half, she had regained her composure and moved into second place. But she couldn’t catch up with Margarita, her close friend, training partner and long-time rival.

Also Russian, Margarita claimed the top qualifying spot by 0.385 points. She was the only gymnast to receive two scores of 19 or more points (out of 20), for her ball and ribbon routine. If she hadn’t dropped one of her clubs and almost lost it out of bounds, her lead could have been significantly larger.
First off I bet she doesn't identify as Bengali... it's just that we say she is Russian Bengali...
Bangladeshis can't win for a long time... if budget, training, skill not improved
Shouldn't people call her Bengali tigress? It is a she after all.

She is nicknamed Bengal Tiger by her co performers. Funny One Bengal Tiger roaring among Siberian Tigers :woot:

However, She only adds to our shame. As a nation we are a one great failure.

Glad you admit that. However we must try to improve and make it better... I don't see that happening until 50+ Year old people are dead... they basically are running Bangladesh which is why we are lagging.

We will soon know as Journalists will now flock to her ancestral home.
Ancestral home in the sense that she herself doesn't know where it is.

Well if there was one man among 160 million whom I would have bet on to win an Olympic medal for us, it was surely Asif. I dont think we have any athlete that comes any closer to him in the race.

Probably Siddique Rahman, the golfer would.

But being a country of rivers and floods, how come we haven't owned the Olympics in rowing/kayaking? :D

We need to start demanding a game in olympic that resembles our traditional "Nouka Baich " It will be fan favorite event as well.:smitten: However I am sure we wont win anything even if it a competition of Singing Amar Sonar Bangla.
