UPDATES ON YF-23 KAAN ENGINE, SYSTEMS & ASSOCIATED MUNITIONS DEVELOPMENT
"Block Zero is Scheduled to make its first Flight before End Oct 2023. There will be around 7 Prototypes. Local National engines comes in next 5 years .
Ukrainian engine developer Ivchenko Progress has entered the "Preliminary Design Phase Project" tender for the development of the turbofan engine of the KAAN Fighter Aircraft.
KAAN savaş uçağının özgün motorunun geliştirilmesi için açılan ihaleye, Ukraynalı Ivchenko Progress şirketi de katılım sağladı.

Ivchenko Progress established a cooperation model with TEI within the scope of the tender.
A 38,000 lb thrust is targeted for the domestic engine developed for the National Combat Aircraft. As a twin engine, the aircraft will be powered with a total thrust of 76,000 pounds "
The MMU is a programme designed in accordance with the concept of manned- unmanned teaming combat. The KAAN is an optionally manned aircraft, but the MMU programme is a doctrinal approach that includes not only this jet but also other unmanned systems such as Super Simsek and Anka-3 etc.
TEI General Manager Prof. Dr. Mahmut Faruk Aksit:
-We know that we can get to supersonic speeds without starting the afterburner and we can do it for the engine.
-We can cast all nickel, titanium and super alloys in Turkey.
-There are 4-5 countries in the world that have this technology.
The 5 minus/4.5+ Generation KAAN prototype with GE F110 itself can engage 4.5+ Gen Fighter Jets from 200+ km away using its various GaN based AESA Arrays.

"Phase -1 for developing Associated specialized Munitions for KAAN has been completed.
We are the institution that performs solid, liquid, ramjet and scramjet studies within the scope of propulsion systems.
There are two projects ongoing - the details of which remain strictly under cover.
---------------------------------------------
We have the experience of developing Missiles such as SOM-J for internal Weapons bay of F-35.
We are transferring that experience for KAAN.
We have taken important developments .
If our higher authorities make their statements soon, we can go into the details of the projects.
TOLUN
DELTA V production hybrid propulsion system will be added to ASELSAN's TOLUN (Miniature Bomb) and it will reach much longer ranges.
Delta-V's system will open up different dimensions to the sector.
ASELSAN TOLUN Miniature Bomb, in its land-launched variant, will utilize the Delta V hybrid rocket engine.
This land-based version of TOLUN can be seen as the counterpart to the GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb),
which was jointly developed by the US & Sweden.
Hypersonics :
Phase 2 & 3 for Weapons development and integration goes in Full Swing and will be completed when KANN Flies."

MAJOR SUB SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT
The prototype is using the similar F110 engines that Turkey license produces at the TEI facility for the F-16s, the initial production batch is supposed to use the same engine. These Engines are Twin Paired with Counter Rotations.
TULGAR HMD:
- Helmet Integrated Imaging System and integrated ar interface
-- To provide a sense of use as if the Aircraft does not have a fuselage
-- Color screen and digital night vision technologies ( the first time in the system )
-- Binocular (two optical channels) and viewfinder reflective
-- Color-specific groupings (friend, foe, etc.) can be made in the symbology information
-- A hybrid (optical-inertial) system is designed as a head tracking system
-- ANR-Active Noise Reduction) technology
-- The image obtained by using high-precision line of sight information from the 360-degree image created by the electro-optical systems
Flight Control System Sensors (IMU)
- Kılavuz-40 system of inertial measurement units
BURFIS Project
- IRFS
- AESA Radar/EW Systems
- CMDS
Integrated EO System (BEOS)
- Karat-100 Infrared search and tracking system
- Toygun-100 Integrated Electro optical Targeting System
- IRIS-300 Infrared missile warning and imaging system
- LIAS-300: Laser Warning System
- YILDIRIM-300 Directed Infrared countermeasure system
Aselsan KARAT InfraRed Search and Track with unique configuration
Infrared search and tracking systems are very critical electro-optical systems that contribute to the low visibility characteristics of 5th generation warplanes and provide passive search capability
operate in the LWIR band which enabling long-range target detection.
KARAT IRST located in front of the cockpit , behind a special window with a reduced radar cross section
Aselsan TOYGUN EOTS under the nose of the aircraft
With its main MWIR infrared sensor with a resolution of 1280×1024 pixels,
TOYGUN will play a role in meeting our aircraft’s low visibility air-to-ground targeting needs
