The 50 Most Brilliant Atheists of All Time

The atheist subject has been beating to death, non and with conformity non of the atheists have ever proven where they came from and how the universal human existence and development started.

In short atheism in itself is a religion with a belief of their unidentified god.

Read this: Re: Does the Noble Quran support "The Earth moves around the Sun" theory? By Avijit roy

The author is an Athiest

Why come to secondary source like youtube, use Quran 78:6

The transliteration of the above verse:*

Waal-arda baAAda thalika dahaha

It means (word by word):

And the Earth after that was spread.**

Here I quote the three famous translations. *

079.030*

YUSUFALI: And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse);*

PICKTHAL: And after that He spread the earth,*

SHAKIR: And the earth, He expanded it after that.*

Don't distort, there is no sin for any non muslim to read Quran to find his reasoning and understanding, read research it your self instead, I can forward you a thousand proven sources that debunked mr. roy's debate and claims.

Nothing wrong with all 3 verses, by the way these are the interpretation of the translating of The Glorious Quran.

mate every religion in the world has 'facts' like that

Ancient religions of *divine origin* has facts like that. Religions like Scientology, started by L. Ron Hubbard to squeeze money from followers, obviously do not. So not every religion my friend.

Also, another thing I said earlier: Christian and Judaism books also have scientific facts like these foretold. But their books were corrupted over the years, people added and removed things as they wished, and now the original text is lost. They still come up with newer versions of the Bible for example, and it's hard to say what is God's word, and what is simply man-made.

There are things in these books that were proven to be false, like Bible saying the Earth is the centre of the universe. I believe that is because people edited and modified these books.

My point was that the Quran remained in it's original form. Hundreds of Hafiz(memorizers) learnt the Quran word-for-word, many many people still do. It's the only holy book people memorize like this. And Allah says in the Quran, that this is the final word of Allah - previous texts got corrupted by man, so Allah himself took responsibility for maintaining the sanctity of this book. The Bible and old testament books got corrupt, with multiple versions coming out shortly after the Prophets passed away. So far, this hasn't happened with the Quran, 1.5 millenniums after the Prophet's time.

yeah we know you love your religion and books similarly others do love their religion and books,so dont go overboard in comparing,we should appreciate the contribution of scientists irrespective of their religious preference

I was only talking about science and religion. Then you started the comparisons between religions, "all religions" have this&that.

And I provided a logical answer to that. And no - scientists don't have the right to spread atheism by supressing the scientific facts which support assertions religious books made thousands of years ago before science managed to discover them.

No Linus Torvalds ?

they are all white people. i guess they were right when they say indians worship whites. c'mon indian, have some confidence in your own people/country!

Although I'm glad one of my professors made into the list, I still have to say it's a pile of nonsense.

Religion is based on belief and blind- faith while science is based on facts and clear understanding.Religion/God is an entity which is not fully understood yet accepted while science is that which is fully understood and only then accepted.

Philosophical talk , vague descriptions in the Holy books --Vedas , Bible, Quran such as "and God said let there be light" , and " God created everything in pairs -Light and darkness etc etc ...these esoteric descriptions are given by the champions of religion as proof of the divine being years and years after science deciphers the natural phenomenon around us ...clearly expresses it in the form of mathematical equations etc.

It resembles the case of Nostradamus --making his famous prediction : The twin 's will fall .

After 9/11 some people linked the similarity of WTC towers to "twins" and his prediction and thus tried to show that he was factually accurate. But All this is only interpretation , of certain individuals.

Faith ( or lack of it ) is and should always be a matter of personal choice depending on an individual 's thought processes .
and its never a pre-requisite for sharpness of mind or intelligence.

Technically, science also contains unprovable assumptions.

The main difference between science and faith is that science encourages skepticism whereas faith abhors it.

It's hard for me to not use profanity in protest. But...no F. Nietzsche?! He was the 'Anti Christ'. The author who wrote 'Thus Spoke Zarathustra' in which we famously proclaimed 'God is Dead' (in a metaphorical way).

Nietzsche is the first and foremost atheist. Let's start from there. Read him. He will change your life. He changed mine almost two decades ago when I accidentally picked up his 'Beyond Good and Evil' from a College used-book store.

Nietsche's atheism is a matter of debate. His famous statement "God is dead" was more about the decline of religion and God becoming irrelevant (in Europe) rather than a statement about God's existance.

science also abhores scepticism about the basic rules...
for example you cant be sceptic about 1+1=2
or you cant be skeptic about the agreed fact that atoms and molecules make everything..
upon these assumptions (beleifs) the whole structure of science us built and makes sense.
likewise in religion there are certain basic beleifs on which any religion depends..and thecwhole fabric of religion is built on these beleifs abd makes sense on the basis of these beleifs..
if somebody iscskeptic about Allah.Prophet Muhammad.Quran.Heaven and hell...then to him nothing in islam will make sense..
but we can investigate whats written inQuran...
for example nowhere in geology and plate techtonics is written the usefulness of mountains..
but its written in quran.....
