Thats how we treat our national heroes - Abdul Qadeer Khan

I am sorry. He was part of a gargantuan effort spread over decades kicked off by Bhutto senior that involved thousands od scientists and officials working as a team. And as regards "safeguarding" this man for sake of greed placed every Pakistani in harms way - potentially making Pakistani a target for US bombs and missiles.

There is a reason why he is in custody.
You are well versed in history and you know very well it's without IF,BUT and suppositions.
This man just was face for acquisition of missile tech from Korea and huge stashes of cash from other players for keeping that mamoth project running.
This guy was thief, not a hero. Only in Pakistan people who sell state secrets are considered heroes.
That bomb required a delivery system to reach it's target. He did nothing wrong,he did that all on behalf of state itself.

He played a role in Pakistan's nuclear program but it was very limited in scope. Building a nuclear bomb isn't a one man's job as is incorrectly attributed to his credit in Pakistan. AQ khan and his department worked on Uranium and the PAEC which had already tested a nuclear device in 1983 was working on plutonium. Interestingly, in 1998 it was PAEC which conducted a higher yield weapon test and not AQ Khan's department aka KRL, which intially wasn't even part of the planned tests and AQ had to pull some heavy strings with military circles to get involved.
There are many Pakistani scietists who have contributed a lot more than AQ Khan, but sadly to this day, he is cashing in on myths associated with his name and people are gullible enough to fall for them. If there is anyone who actually derserve's to be called a true hero that would be Dr. Samar Mubarak.
Brother, you know nothing about Pakistan Nuclear History. Type P1 and P2 history to understand batter his work and how critical his contribution was on that time. Dr. Samar is just a bluff nothing more and he is taking other people achievements. Search for another great son of Pakistan Dr. Munir Ahmed Khan. Dr Samar entry was very late when all major work have been done by these greats.

Yes, I am aware. Even if members of this project had to kill I would be apt to excuse on the basis of "neccessity" and "ends justify means" but this is not about that. At some point AQ went "private" and began his own personal business for person gain. That is my issue.

No one had a special love with aq khan or hate for samar mubarak which forced him/her to distort the facts.
You should know making a nuclear bomb is not possible without the fusion process and making the centrifuges ,and all that credit goes to AQ khan. There is a reason why just few nuclear powers exist on the face of earth because most countries struggle with a fusion process and making of centrifuges etc.Though i agree all scientists involved in this project and the delivery systems etc are our heroes but without this man becoming a nuclear power was just a wet dream.
Love for AQ Khan was special and exists to date, but lets get past that futile discussion.
Is there any proof that it was soleley AQ Khan, who as a metullurgist introduced fusion to Pakistan's nuclear programe, which in itself had actually started in 1950's and AQ Khan had joined in 1970's? Not to mention AQ khan was not a nuclear physict, such as Dr Muneer Ahmed and others including Dr Samar.
Centifuges are a made up of special alloys so here the role of AQ Khan is unquestionable, but he restricted his work to Uranium and PAEC was largely concerned with Plutonium.
Stating the obvious Pakistan became nuclear power in 1983 and that project had little to no relation with the work being done by AQ Khan and when Pakistan became a nuclear power in 1983, its absurd on AQ Khan and his admirers part to claim the the title of "Pakistan's father of nuclear bomb". His claims remain valid with few because of all the people involved he made tall claims for himself and got over exposure, while the rest worked clandestinely.

Please let's not dwell on who knows what and not.
Whats P1 and P2, Please be clear, are you refering to PARR1 & PARR2?
I know for a fact that it was PAEC which conducted Pakistan's first nuclear test and it was headed by Dr Muneer and not by KRL where AQ Khan stood more influential. For the rest, the most accepted historical accounts have been penned in a book by Feroze Hassan Khan, I suggest a reading will clear things further.

The problem with heroes in this region, sooner or later they wants to get paid.

Opinionated conspiracy theories nothing more...
The whole pakistans nuclear program start rising after his arrival from Netherlands, when he risked his life and career stole the tech and came to pakistan to help unthankful and ungrateful people like you. Nuclear program existed before but it,s start thriving after the centrifuge designs he stole from the netherlands get in our hands.Without the centrifuges the whole nuclear program was worthless. There is reason AQ khan is called father of pakistans nuclear bomb.

P1 and P2 is Pakistan 1 and Pakistan 2 Gas Centrifuge system develop by Pakistan and Pakistan invent this technology, this is the basic core of Nuclear development without it Pakistan can't able to produce nuclear bomb.
