Thats how we treat our national heroes - Abdul Qadeer Khan

b) As I said, since Pakistan was on the receiving end of nuclear ToT from China, it doesn't puts Pakistan in bad light...rather China. Besides, the Chinese needed Pakistan to keep a check on India.
Pakistan has no benefit of helping Iran in this case. Its arch rival is already in limited reach, will soon be within comfortable reach of Pakistan. Similar is the case with Libya, or Saudi Arabia.

c) China, of course.

Agreed!

I think helping Iran could serve a long-term benefit, but that's another discussion.

Fun fact: Mossad agents, disguised as fisherman on Rawal Lake, used sophisticated microphones hidden in their fishing rods to listen to AQ Khan & Co fantasize about vaporizing Manhattan. They then shared this with their CIA counterparts, and AQ Khan --- at various points --- was a serious assassination target. As many here have pointed out, the house arrest was more for his safety than anything else (of course it also served the dual purpose of him not revealing the full extent of State involvement in covert ToT to other States.)

From where exactly did you get that mossad agents story at rawal lake story and how credible is it?

There is even more dirt on the other “heroes” as well but less said the better. All of them are essentially middle men with their children now carrying on contracts. Some do deserve the business in their attempts to be honest though; nothing wrong with using connections and relationships with suppliers and end users as long as you do it by the rules and avoid corruption.
I do it with ARAMCO and US DoD.

But, when you hear stories about the budget black hole that is SPD.. it only makes the heart sink further.
How much you earned by doing it? :pop:

Profit margin for contracts with the US DoD go anywhere from 5% to 30% depending upon the product. Unlike Pakistan, its electronic, documented and no bribery or commissions involved.

You can pitch a product to the end user for selection in a requirement; they then put it on a public site for open bidding.. and as long as you have the lowest price or are the sole principle of the product.. you win.

From the Mossad's most in-depth historian / writer, Gideon Thomas. Of course, many of his claims are dismissed by Israeli officials.

Credibility can never be too high when discussing highly classified ops that have not been publicly declassified yet. However, it sounds reasonable and within the scope of possibility. Also, it seems like quite a strange story to make up in a book that is about the Mossad (and not about Pakistan); it's just a page or two in the book.

I agree with your point. But, he need to stay low profile. He will be wanted for agencies till his last breath.
thats what i said in the beginning . rest of the story was back in the 80s
I feel for the guy. even if he did something wrong. his contribution to program outweighs it and yes he has to be protected and must not compromise his security over his anger.

So the more one aids the State of Pakistan, the greater the license for corruption.

Now I understand the account in the book Deception of AQK's negotiations with Zia for honors and rewards, including the right to build a home in a protected area and drain its sewage into a public reservoir for other Pakistanis to drink: it's wrong, everyone could see it was wrong, but the fact that he could get away with it proved that business ventures with him would succeed without regard to the law.

Despite all of his faults and warts, Abdul Qadeer Khan is and will remain a hero of Pakistan. However, we must understand that ‘Heroes’ are not perfect and like other mortals also have weaknesses therefore liable to make mistakes as well.

I don’t see the point of this debate because AQ Khan is still well respected by the majority of Pakistanis. IMHO, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan possibly did not get what he really deserved but on the whole, he has not been treated too badly.

There was a time when international agencies were out to get him and his enforced isolation was primarily to ensure his personal safety. How would it look if CIA or Mossad had been able to kill him inside Pakistan?

These are the two excerpts from international newspapers quoting actual events.

Quote 1.

Israel, apparently disappointed by the US hesitation to launch a pre-emptive strike against Iran, is showing signs of returning to its policy of assassination to weaken or eliminate its enemies. Israeli intelligence apparatus Mossad reportedly assassinated Ardashir Hassan Baur, one of Iran’s top nuclear scientists, last month. Ardashir, who was instrumental in founding the Nuclear Research Center in Esfahan, was the director of the Center for Nuclear Electromagnetic Studies, the hub of Iranian nuclear activities.

A major function of the Israeli intelligence is obviously to follow the activities of the Arab nuclear scientists and assassinate them with the express goal of depriving the Arab countries of capable scientists. For instance, Egyptian nuclear scientist Dr. Samirah Musa was killed in a road accident in the United States in 1952 caused by an unidentified driver. Israel did not like her because she used to voice deep concerns about the hazards of the increasing Israeli nuclear activities in the Middle East.

Quote 2.

Three events – not seemingly related – took place yesterday. The leaking of State Department documents, many of which deal with the world's concerns about Iran's nuclear programme; the mysterious assassination in Tehran of a top Iranian nuclear scientist and the wounding of another, and the appointment of Tamir Pardo as the new head of Mossad, Israel's foreign espionage agency.

But there's a link between them. They are part of the endless efforts by the Israeli intelligence community, together with its Western counterparts including Britain's MI6 and America's CIA, to sabotage, delay and if possible, to stop Iran from reaching its goal of having its first nuclear bomb.

The attack on the two scientists, one of them mentioned as a top nuclear scientist working with Iran's Ministry of Defence, was part of these efforts. No organisation claimed responsibility but it is obvious, not just because of accusations by Iranian officials and Iran's media, that Israel was behind it. Most experts who follow Middle East politics and Mossad history would agree.

It is at least the fourth attempt to assassinate Iranian scientists linked with the country's nuclear programme in four years. There were probably other attempts which did not hit the headlines. The attribution to Mossad is not because of the use of motorcycles, though in the past Mossad has been involved in similar operations. The best known one was in 1995 in Valletta, Malta, when a Mossad hit-team liquidated Dr Fathi Shkaki, the leader of the Islamic

The Nation is plagued by rampant messianism.

At first it may look religious in nature since its mostly expressed that way but i postulate its cultural in nature somehow as well.
