What's new

Thailamd sent naval ships, plane to chase away a group of Vietnamese fishing boat.

So you admit what I said is right. Indonesia has no coast guard. Or at least until recently. It is your navy that does coast guard duty. I wonder why your comrades jump high trying to prove what?

The Thai haven't coast guard, either. So you both belong to No CG club.

It is clear in my previous statement that the coast guard duty is taken by local government and police. But we do have coast guard unit just recently.

see what this Vietrash wrote LOL

they are desperate. i can see hundreds upon hundreds VN illegals fishing trash being destroyed, blown up and sunken in the future. Thailand are already agree to follow our way of dealing with this thief and trash, it's only a matter of time before we see Thailand blow their boats up high to the sky.

educated and civilized man would soon realize and give up any idea to fish illegaly within our territory the first time they see our determination to stop any illegal fishing activities. But no. We can't expect that much from bunch of uneducated, uncultured and uncivilized drongo that keep comming back for more whip in the ***.

For them, word has no meaning, so we mustn't talk a humane language with them. They are already abandon reason and common sense since a long long time ago. Our only option is to keep our sword sharp, in case we need to cut and chop off their idiocity and blown up their empty arrogance.

It could be that or it could be just the fact that the Thais don't have a coast guard force needed to properly adjudicate their national sovereignty duties. Perhaps the Thai Government needs to increase coast guard vessel acquisition so that they can fulfill their interdiction mandates properly without having to get any arms of the 'military' involved.

upon further research, it seem thailand doesn't have a proper coast guard at all, it technically has one but its assets are monthly rotations from the navy and it shares its duties with like 4 or 5 other agencies.

so yes, its high time thailand works out a proper coast guard and roll the related agencies into one like china did for its coast guard.

I believe @nufix has explained about our coast guard before, it is new institution and thats why not having many ships. Indonesian use other institution to guard its coast and water, it is conducted by local government and Police, so the vessel are not in our coast guard inventory. Maybe Nufix post can be copy paste once more here.

And how on earth we can catch so many boats from Vietnam and others if we dont have enough ships...? :D

no use talking to viets, they have the shortest memory.

Anyway, good job to Thai government. May more and more ASEAN countries follow the steps of Minister Susi. Blow 'em up !

I came here to troll, however I see that you guys are way better than me. Please do continue! :pop:

You are really uneducated, inferior complex. just copied troll of Chinese on this forum .:suicide:

During the late 1940s and 1950s, the US and British collaborated on development of herbicides with potential applications in warfare. Some of those products were brought to market as herbicides. The British were the first to employ herbicides and defoliants to destroy the crops, bushes, and trees of communist insurgents in Malaysia in 1950.

I think both Malaysia and Indonesia people is effected too. :sarcastic:

What i thought when read this is, the level of foliage in your head must be high

Absolutely. In fact it is not just Thailand that requires more coast guard vessels and proper mandate , but also neighboring countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia --- all of which have recently just started developing a coast guard force.

My point is that sending a military vessel, e.g, a naval warship, can lead to unnecessary diplomatic gaffes, case in point what happened in the Scarborough Shoal in 2012 when the Philippines sent a naval warship to interdict Chinese fishing vessels. That led to the Chinese navy protesting and led to further military buildup by the Chinese to counter the military response by the Philippines. The Filipinos would have been better off sending a coast guard ship to interdict the vessels.

No CG is too bad for Thai, seem like Thai will be invaded easier by attacking from sea than attacking them on land

Said a country who doesnt have a real size frigate and still depend on some cold war junks

One of the issues with the Thais is that they have two bodies of water to worry about; the Andaman Sea where it shares a common maritime border with the Burmese and the Indians. Then there is also the Gulf of Thailand , where they ahve to allocate naval units to defend against possible threats from Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, et al.

These are all strategic limitations.

Means should not define goals. While utilizing coast guard fleet to handle such and such case is prefered by countries that already have matured coast guard force, we also have to consider the opposite situation, where coast guard unit is inadequate or maybe non existent.

Countries should utilize all available resources to face any challenges and strive to achieve the goals. Coast guard development can be done in parallel, and should not hinder government to take action that deem necessary.

In case of Indonesia, we are catching up and massively build our coast guard fleet today. Hundreds coast guard vessels are currently being prepared. They will be coming sooner rather than later.

Thats why joint wt VN to create a greater sub Mekong region is the best choice for Thai now. Thai dont need to worry abt threat from VN anymore as we r in one united group.

Allow illegal VN unskill workers to grant a working license in Thai is the first step to let more Vnese living permantly in Thai and to build a better truth bween VN-Thai :)

Of course, in the case of assymetrical realities wherein the current coast guard fleet is lacking, to offset such deficiency, it is required to send in naval assets to cover the gaps. I suppose that reality was the reason the Philippines also sent in their new frigate Gregorio Del Pilar to interdict Chinese poachers near the Scarborough Shoal back in 2012. There is no active Philippine coast guard force near the Palawaan region , which is home of their WESCOM (Western Command). Philippine Naval assets near that region is limited to minor corvettes , and their home bases are in either Port of Puerto Princessa or are coming from Subic Bay, which is quite a long way off. The BRP G.Del Pilar warship , as a cutter by design, can stay in the high seas for weeks, and thus was doing necessary patrol. It was just that perchance they happened to nab Chinese poachers.

The PLAN, PLA and the CPC utilized the event as the reason for their legitimization of their military buildup in the region. Exploiting the philippines' inherent weakness to bolster population and civic support for their military strategic designs in the south china sea.

Now in regards to the Philippines, what they need more is more larger vessels in their coast guard fleet, as well as more coast guard vessels period. Japan is helping them currently by building them 10 new coast guard vessels to bolster their interdiction and exploratory abilities --- and for a vast archipelagic state like the Philippines , which has over 7100 islands and a coast line of over 36,000 km --- they are also picking up the game. Resource theft is a serious offense as unregulated and unmitigated resource theft disparages an nation's abilities to muster resources for population consumption.

This is a reality that your country, Indonesia, is currently trying to fight. I understand the necessary position your Minister Susi is utilizing to prevent illegal poaching, as a means to curb resource theft. Also your country has one of the largest maritime coast lines in that Indonesia has over 55,000 km of coast line. That is a duty of your Coast Guard to protect it, and protect the national mandate.

Best of luck, best wishes on Indonesia's national directives.

I don't think a submekong empire is feasible due to the political vagaries between Krungthep and Hanoi. Perhaps a loose strategic relationship, bolstered by economic and cultural relations. But a purely military-political union is unpractical right now.

Vietnam, by her shear size and size of her population, will undoubtedly want to expand, and look for resources. Your nation's landmass is not enough to accommodate all 98 million (nearly 100 million) of your Vietnamese people. Eventually, Vietnam will expand and start to settle (if it has not already done so) in Laos and Cambodia.

As I said, Vietnam's current landsize , land mass is not big enough to accommodate its large population.

Allow illegal VN unskill workers to grant a working license in Thai is the first step to let more Vnese living permantly in Thai and to build a better truth bween VN-Thai :)

hahahaha, 'let'? I think that is what Vietnam wants, but I hardly think the Siamese will want to do that openly. They have enough problems trying to contain illegal entry of Shan and other ethnic minorities from Burma coming into their northern province of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. The problem with Thailand is that she has porous borders, and her territorial guards are unable to meet the challenges affecting her. From Burmese ethnic minorities that swell in the hundreds of thousands in her northern provinces, to the illegal entry of Laotians and Khmers to her eastern and northern flank, to the uncontrolled border between Malaysia and Thailand near Songkla , nakon si tamarrat et al. Thailand as you can see has a difficult time trying to control her border regions. I suppose Vietnamese can take advantage of that inherent weakness.

Today, Philippine will need every assistance to secure their coast line and the 10 new coast guard vessels will surely help. I see no reason why philippine with adequate shipbuilding industry can not build their coast guard fleet properly in the future.

The problem with past administration was that we have 18 overlapping bodies that try to secure our maritime resources. There's no focus and institutional ego was high with 0 level coordination. This situation leave many important task unfinish even untouch. Today, we bring all this bodies in one command. We strengthen our coast guard and maritime and fishery patrol, with the backing of the navy. All under the coordination control of Minister Susi :-)

1. The Philippines is poised to progress with Indonesia and I have stated this time and time again that the potential powers of Southeast Asia (Greater Malaya Archipelago) is both the Filipinas and Indonesia. Both countries have vast natural resources, which are practically still unharvested, untouched. Indonesia has over 250 million population (with birth rate of over 2%), Filipinas has a population nearing 110 million (with population over 3%), Combined they make up 360 million people.

2. Filipinas and Indonesia recently signed the maritime boundary agreement, thus putting to rest a 20 year disagreement between Jakarta and Manila, this resolves territorial dispute, and effectively eliminates any issues Manila has with Jakarta, totally. This puts Filipinas and Indonesia are two potential political-military allies in this coming century.

3. Indonesia and Filipinas are ethnically the same kin. Same blood of people, same race ; Austronesian. Both countries have similar strategic limitations (ethnic variaties, dealing with religious extremists, dealing with insurgency et al). But you seen the threats are mostly minor (internal), with very little external moribund factors. Controlling the maritime waters through coast guard vessels will secure the two nation's vast natural resources.

4. The issue of "curse of many organizations" in government should be streamlined and undergo lean, clean processing administration. Merging various bodies in government to streamline goals should be done, and that is in itself a domestic issue that hsould be handled accordingly and in context to Indonesian and Filipina political economy.
