Forget it, development will take at least some years. There is no existent engine except F-119 from PW.
Turkey made the same with China, wanted more and more;
and project was cancelled.

China even regrets that they gave us missile technology, cause we copied and are now competing with them on the missile market.

The Eurojet EJ200 is a military 90 kN low bypass turbofan jet engine, used as the powerplant of the Eurofighter Typhoon. The engine is largely based on the Rolls-Royce XG-40 technology demonstrator which was developed in the 1980s. The EJ200 is built by the EuroJet Turbo GmbH consortium.

So I did understand the article correctly? Which engine is offering us RR? Which one is more powerful? Which one is preferred by TAI?
There is nothing to understand,as you know RR is one of the two leading partners of Eurojet(33%),the engine tech for the EJ-200 is largely based on the RR XG-40 technology demonstrator which was developed in the 1980s by RR.
So why go for ''second hand''(Eurojet) when you can get everything first hand(RR).
The deal is that the JV will develop a new engine for the TFX.
The EJ-200 is not good enough,the EJ-230 or EJ2x0 (or whatever they want to call it) with 20% better performance could be enough but im sure that RR can develop a similar or better performing engine.
TAI has the luxury to decide which one is best for the TFX.

Rolls-Royce and Kale Group create defence aero engine joint venture

Rolls-Royce and Kale Group, a major partner in global and national defence and aerospace industries, have announced the formation of a joint venture company to target aero engine opportunities in Turkey.

Kale Group will own 51 per cent and Rolls-Royce 49 per cent of the joint venture, which aims to develop aircraft engines for Turkey, initially targeting the TF-X National Fighter Jet Project. The agreement was signed at a ceremony in Istanbul today attended by Osman Okyay, Deputy CEO of Kale Group and Chris Cholerton, Rolls-Royce, President - Defence Aerospace.

Osman Okyay said: “Today we are very pleased and proud to be uniting our energy with one of the biggest jet engine makers of the world. This partnership is a milestone in the development of the aerospace and defence industries of Turkey.”

Chris Cholerton said: “We are delighted to announce this new Joint Venture and to have the opportunity to work together with Kale to develop the national engine for TF-X.”

Kale Group is the contractor for the Turbojet engine development project, a milestone in Turkey’s aim to produce domestic aircraft engines.

The establishment of the joint venture is subject to the usual legal approvals.

Thanks for the explanation. Why should the gov't opt for any other company than the RR/Kale JV in the first place? It wouldn't make sense at all.
