Syrian Students, Professors Honor Martyrs of Architectural Engineering Faculty

Students of Damascus University organized a solidarity stand on Monday in honor of the martyrs of the Architectural Engineering Faculty who fell victims to terrorism in the faculty's cafeteria last Thursday.

Participants asserted that terrorism and cry will not intimidate them nor prevent them from continuing their studies and living their lives normally.

Participants lit candles and carried Syrian flags and banners affirming that the martyrs' blood will not be in vain.

The students said that the terrorist act was a major shock to students who wonder why students were targeted, wondering how can the people who attack civilians promise the Syrian people a better future of freedom and democracy.

They said that targeting schools and universities aims to undermine Syrians' morale and cause them to despair, but the students will not permit this to happen.

Also on Monday, a mourning gathering was organized at the Architectural Engineering Faculty. The gathering will be held for three days.

Attending the gathering, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammad Yehea Mualla said that terrorism has no religion or identity, and that its message is one of injustice, murder and backward thinking.

Mualla said that targeting scientific and education establishments and murdering students and professors is the ugliest form of terrorism which aims to take revenge upon the steadfast Syrian people and spread ignorance and hatred.

The Higher Education Ministry suspended work in all universities and higher education establishments for five minutes at noon in mourning for the martyrs.

In al-Baath University in Homs, a stand was organized in mourning over the martyrs and to show solidarity with the students wounded in the terrorist attack against the Architectural Engineering Faculty.

Participants voiced their support for the families of the martyrs and the wounded, affirming determination to pursue their education despite the difficult conditions.

In Tishreen University in Lattakia, another mourning gathering was organized, with participants denouncing the terrorists' crime which targeted the future of Syria.

After the horrendous attack on Aleppo University earlier this year by the F$A, there have been other attacks on universities that led to the death of students. This video has two parts. Part 1 shows the reaction from a university professor after her students were killed by the mortar attack of the F$A as she completely lets her anger loose on those who support this "revolution." She defies them by proudly stating that she stands strongly behind President Bashar al-Assad.

Part 2 shows an interview of a kid - Ammar Baloush - brainwashed by the F$A to kill his fellow students based on sectarian affiliation, which apparently made them Shabbiha, because they support their government. He shows no remorse or regret for his crime. On the contrary, he feels bad he did not kill more. The interview is recent; however, the crime itself took place back in late 2011. Many in the Syrian opposition hailed him as a hero back then.
