ISLAMABAD / PESHAWAR: The United Baloch Army (UBA) claimed responsibility for the high-intensity remote-controlled blast in Sabzi Mandi on Wednesday, Express News reported.
The blast that took place in the early hours of Wednesday in the busy market left at least 22 people dead and dozens injured.
Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) officials said nine of the injured were in critical condition. Many wounded were also taken to the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi and emergency was declared in both the hospitals of twin cities.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, President Mamnoon Hussain and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan condemned the explosion, with interior minister ordering a report on the explosion.
Speaking to the media later in the day, the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said that the use of technology was imperative for the prevention of such incidents in the future, adding that a transparent system needs to be set up to monitor the transport of goods and produce in the area.
He criticised the previous government, informing that two of the four explosive material scanners that were purchased by the previous government at a cost of Rs10 million never arrived, while the ones that were delivered did not serve the purpose.
He assured that the government will find the terrorists behind the incident and bring them to justice. He added that people who were injured in the incident and who lost their loved ones will be compensated by the government.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid also issued a condemnation and said it was ‘haram‘ and illegal to attack innocent people in public places.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid visited PIMS to meet the injured and appreciated the hospital’s rescue efforts in the aftermath. He said injured were swiftly shifted to the hospital within minutes.
The minister also lauded the citizens of Rawalpindi for extending help to the injured. Rashid refused to comment on who could be behind the attack, saying speculations can negatively affect the ongoing investigations.
According to Inspector General (IG) Islamabad, four to five kilogrammes of explosive material were used in the blast. The explosives were reportedly planted in a crate of fruit.
“It was a bomb blast, heard over a big radius,” local police official Tehzeeb Hussain told AFP.
The blast left a 1.5-metre diameter crater at the site, an AFP reporter at the scene said. Senior local administration official Nauman Yousuf told AFP “it was a planted bomb”.

According to rescue sources, 13 vehicles were damaged in the explosion.
Security officials and the police cordoned off the area and the Bomb Disposal Squad combed the area for other explosive devices.
Search operations were conducted in Rawalpindi following the blast. Security was increased at the entry and exit points of the garrison city, where police have arrested 16 suspects so far.

Army did an operation, its the outfall of it, quetta, sibi and now islamabad. seems true..

Like they were very peaceful before FC operation. It is time to conduct operations against these Baloch racist rats in even more strict manner. Also Pakistani foreign ministry should also stop being a dumbas$ and should ask the governments of UK and Switzerland to stop harboring terrorists immediately.

Terrible for the victims and their families.

I'm sure these bombings affect Pakistan's export trade as well. There's no safe way for foreigners like myself to come to Pakistan to evaluate the products of small entrepreneurs, nor check quality of production. It's too bad because there are parts of Pakistan that have excellent cultural bent towards and experience in handicrafts so both artisanal exports and capital investments in factory production could be very successful.

hullo Balixd  werent there security offices near that area? then howcome they didnt know about it?

RIP
Security at a place like this can do jacksht, you can only be there to deter ,otherwise most of the time, it will be a reactive approach rather proactive.

Know about that, and well aware there approach, but i also know that such groups are limited to balochistan or interior sindh....Unless someone from TTP supporters have assisted them.
I am talking about rogue groups of TTP lije the ones who carried out f8 kacheri attack, who are against attack or perhaps a foreign hand....

This is indeed Baloch militants. Taliban if wanted to attack would have wanted attacked some place of importance like some government office or something. Not a sabzi mandi. These as$holes from Turbat have attacked markets just to show their strength. Like this one...

You are right but intelligence reports did say that if Govt buildings could not be reached then public places will be attacked.
Reports mentioning the case has been circulating the offices since 26th march...

ISALAMABD: Outlawed United Baloch Army (UBA) has claimed responsibility for the Islamabad fruit market bomb blast that killed 24 people Wednesday, Samaa reported.

This is UBA’s second major attack within 24 hours as a day earlier the separatist militants bombed Jaffar Express at Sibi railway station killing 17 passengers and injuring dozens more.

The bombing -- the deadliest to hit Islamabad since a huge truck bomb at the Marriott Hotel in 2008 -- left a 1.5-metre (five-foot) diameter crater and littered the site with body parts.

The UBA struck as the government tries to negotiate an end to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan's (TTP) seven-year campaign of violence.

On the other hand Taliban spokesman Shahidullah Shahid denied the Taliban's involvement and condemned the attack.

Experts say these bombings may be a reaction of the elimination of at least 30 separatist miscreants in Khuzdar and Kalat districts of restive Balochistan on Monday.

The Frontier Corps said the militants were killed in an operation, which began earlier on Monday in the Farod area of Kalat district, around 300 kilometres (190 miles) southwest of the provincial capital Quetta. The troops were backed by Special Wing troops and helicopter gunships.--SAMAA

I think the powers who were financing TTP after seeing rifts and weakness in TTP ranks have focused to these racist rats to carry on terror activities inside Pakistan. Hence we see more attacks by racist Baloch terrorists. It is all about finances after all.

Baloch have honor? They bomb trains filled with people, they blow up food street markets. They did it twice.

No honor amongst thieves.

Yes, not among thieves, but generally they do. We can't brush all with the same colour. Balochi honour and word is legendary. There are 500,000 Baloch in Karachi, all hard working people and common Pakistanis.

These killers are foreign trained.
