Terrorism strike in Rawalpindi cantt

Heartfelt condolences to the families of the vicitms.

I'm pretty sure this had nothing to do with RAW. Reason: It was a suicide bombing. Besides, RAW never conducted bombings.

This has Al Qaeda fingerprints all over it.

Im not arguing the casualtiy figure but the fact that the present attacks are distinctive in nature as to how they have selectively targeted the armed forces.

Its an extremely clever strategy, by targeting the military/government primarily, they continue their PR campaign of portraying the government as fighting its own people and Islam. The are probably also hoping that the government will resort to the more heavy handed tactics that result in higher collateral damage, thereby further isolating it from the people, both in the Tribal areas and Pakistan proper. To that extent the governments restraint is perhaps a good thing, though it invites more casualties by doing so. If it limits its offensive actions to militant hideouts and leadership, based of accurate intelligence, it can keep chipping away at the terror structure - keep the door for talks open and continue with development activities and see where we end up. The method employed by NATO, heavy handed military campaign, is not working too well, so we might as well try this and see where it leads us.

There is no military solution to ward off militancy...had there been one, US, Israelis and Indians would not be fighting on in their respective campaigns to this day.
